Hong Kong author Catherine Chor-kok Lam's On Our World's Religions is a rational, objective and comprehensive examination of our religious beliefs and how they help us to understand the constant changes in this universe and our life. The religions discussed in this book include Zoroastrianism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Chinese folk beliefs based on I Ching and Tao Te Ching. In the author's words: "Like human civilizations, our religious beliefs transform through time, from simple worshipping of natural items to complex systems of religious and moral teachings. Like human societies, various aspects of our perceived heaven continue to improve as the ethic standards of our perceived gods keep being raised." In this day and age, where many religions are increasingly misunderstood as a result of mundane disputes, On Our World's Religions may serve as a guide that enhances our appreciation of religious beliefs while deters us from becoming victims of political ideologies.

Muslim Christian And Jew written by David Liepert and has been published by Faith of Life Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Political Science categories.

Virtually every other religious book portrays the act of believing-the decision a believer makes to accept that his or her own religion's particular assumptions and explanations are true-as if it is a good thing. Frankly, I think believing is dangerous. . . . The thrust of my argument is simple: All of us think that our religion is "good" and that those in apparent (and often politically motivated) opposition to it are "bad." But the real truth is that all of our religions are equally guilty of being used to promote violence, and-thanks to centuries of political manipulation that have distorted the way we read our holy books-all of us are equally guilty of not following what our religions really say. . . . The later chapters of this book explore belief and human nature in a new light to explain how Freud's theories of the subconscious and quantum physics' model of the subatomic universe offer some of the best proof we have that God exists; show us a way to restore religion to its rightful role in our lives and our world; and conclude that we're all a lot closer to where we should be than we think.

Church-going in most Western societies has declined significantly in the wake of the social and cultural changes that began in the 1960s. Does this mean that people in these societies are losing any religious dimension in their lives, or is it being expressed in other forms and places? This study begins by looking at comparative data on how church-going patterns have changed in five countries--Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand--examining reasons for the decline, how churches have responded to these changes, and why some churches have shown greater resilience. It then explores some of the particular challenges these changes pose for the future of churches in these societies and some of the responses that have been made, drawing on both sociological and theological insights. The conclusion is that, despite the loss of belonging, believing persists and religion continues to play a significant role in these societies, mediated in a variety of diffuse cultural forms. Cases illustrating these changes are largely drawn from New Zealand, which as the country most recently settled by Europeans has always been "secular" and thus provides helpful insights.

Annotation If religion is not about God, then what on earth is it about? Loyal Rue contends that religion is a series of strategies that aims to influence human nature so that we might think, feel, and act in ways that are good for us, both individually and collectively.
