Where do I find security?Discovering the answer to that question is a universal quest. Mankind has addressed this basic human drive through many different avenues; yet, in spite of our best attempts, we are ultimately powerless to achieve real security. Many circumstances remain totally outside our control. Thankfully, there is another Source of security we can turn to that can provide both total and permanent security. What is this Source? It is God, in whom are found all wisdom and provision. Legendary Bible teacher Derek Prince explores various ways in which God provides security, highlighting the conditions we must meet in order to qualify for His protection in each area of our lives. We must have a solid foundation that can endure the pressures and difficulties we inevitably face. That foundation is the Word of God and the wisdom it provides. God’s wisdom reveals His eternal nature, contains His everlasting counsel, and shows us the way through the shifting sands of time to the eternal Rock upon which we can all build with absolute confidence.

When your world comes crashing down around you there is only one place of safety-the Refuge. Convinced that many Christians are already experiencing tough times, Jim Bakker offers hope to believers, showing how to make it through the dark nights and difficult days ahead. Security will not be in money or materialism; it will be in Christ and His family, working to overcome the obstacles in life. Drawing upon lessons he learned the hard way, Bakker encourages Christians to gather together in one accord, to bear one another's burdens, to open our hearts to a fresh outpouring of God's supernatural presence in our midst. His call for "first-century Christianity" in the twenty-first century is radical, challenging, thoroughly biblical, and inspiring.

Seeking Refuge written by Robert M Wilson and has been published by University of Washington Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-07-01 with Social Science categories.

Each fall and spring, millions of birds travel the Pacific Flyway, the westernmost of the four major North American bird migration routes. The landscapes they cross vary from wetlands to farmland to concrete, inhabited not only by wildlife but also by farmers, suburban families, and major cities. In the twentieth century, farmers used the wetlands to irrigate their crops, transforming the landscape and putting migratory birds at risk. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service responded by establishing a series of refuges that stretched from northern Washington to southern California. What emerged from these efforts was a hybrid environment, where the distinctions between irrigated farms and wildlife refuges blurred. Management of the refuges was fraught with conflicting priorities and practices. Farmers and refuge managers harassed birds with shotguns and flares to keep them off private lands, and government pilots took to the air, dropping hand grenades among flocks of geese and herding the startled birds into nearby refuges. Such actions masked the growing connections between refuges and the land around them. Seeking Refuge examines the development and management of refuges in the wintering range of migratory birds along the Pacific Flyway. Although this is a history of efforts to conserve migratory birds, the story Robert Wilson tells has considerable salience today. Many of the key places migratory birds use — the Klamath Basin, California’s Central Valley, the Salton Sea — are sites of recent contentious debates over water use. Migratory birds connect and depend on these landscapes, and farmers face pressure as water is reallocated from irrigation to other purposes. In a time when global warming promises to compound the stresses on water and migratory species, Seeking Refuge demonstrates the need to foster landscapes where both wildlife and people can thrive.

How do you cope when facing life-threatening illness, family conflict, faltering relationships, old trauma, obsessive thinking, overwhelming emotion, or inevitable loss? If you’re like most people, chances are you react with fear and confusion, falling back on timeworn strategies: anger, self-judgment, and addictive behaviors. Though these old, conditioned attempts to control our life may offer fleeting relief, ultimately they leave us feeling isolated and mired in pain. There is another way. Beneath the turbulence of our thoughts and emotions exists a profound stillness, a silent awareness capable of limitless love. Tara Brach, author of the award-winning Radical Acceptance, calls this awareness our true refuge, because it is available to every one of us, at any moment, no exceptions. In this book, Brach offers a practical guide to finding our inner sanctuary of peace and wisdom in the midst of difficulty. Based on a fresh interpretation of the three classic Buddhist gateways to freedom—truth, love, and awareness—True Refuge shows us the way not just to heal our suffering, but also to cultivate our capacity for genuine happiness. Through spiritual teachings, guided meditations, and inspirational stories of people who discovered loving presence during times of great struggle, Brach invites us to connect more deeply with our own inner life, one another, and the world around us. True Refuge is essential reading for anyone encountering hardship or crisis, anyone dedicated to a path of spiritual awakening. The book reminds us of our own innate intelligence and goodness, making possible an enduring trust in ourselves and our lives. We realize that what we seek is within us, and regardless of circumstances, “there is always a way to take refuge in a healing and liberating presence.” Praise for True Refuge “Drawing on the latest findings in neuroscience as well as ten more years of personal experience on the path of awakening, Tara Brach’s superb second book brings readers ever more deeply in touch with our true nature. This book is a precious gift, filled with insight, shared from heart to heart.”—Thich Nhat Hanh “True Refuge is a magnificent work of heart. For anyone interested in developing a deeper understanding of the mind and how to improve the quality of their life, this book offers unique insights and easily learned practices that literally can transform your life’s path. Read, explore, and enjoy!”—Daniel J. Siegel, M.D., author of No-Drama Discipline

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 The Buddhist teaching of loving presence is central to my work with my meditation students and therapy clients. It is through realizing loving presence as our very essence that we discover true freedom. #2 When we are most upset, our minds race and we start talking to ourselves. We must remember to pause and let be, even if we forget some of the time. #3 We often don’t respond wisely to our own deep prayer. We turn toward what I call false refuges, which are false because they provide a temporary sense of comfort or security but they create more suffering in the long run. #4 The author’s wife, Pam, was able to fully attend to her husband during his last days because she allowed herself to be fully present with her inner experience. She was able to let go of all her ideas of how his dying should be and what else she should be doing, and just consent to the situation.

"Prayer is a refuge of God's great mercy to the human race." The refuge is a place of inner stillness and peace where the heart is fully opened to the embrace of God's love. It is a return to the ancient paradise from which the human race, in Adam, had to depart because of disobedience to the command of God. The Refuge is an exposition of the concrete actions we should take if we truly desire to live with and in God. It weaves together meditations on scripture (from the Psalms in particular) and amplifies these with the wisdom of early Christian saints, in particular the ascetical writings of St. John of the Ladder, St. Macarius the Great, and St. Isaac the Syrian. It is an active exhortation for us to reacquire the original nobility with which God fashioned us in the beginning.
