Art works from various Dutch companies will swap their trusted places in offices and companies this autumn for a place in a museum. From December, Singer Laren offers a historic art overview of 75 years of Dutch art from company collections, with as central theme ?encounters? between modern art after 1945 and contemporary art.00The book accompanying the exhibition, 'Out of office. Art Treasures from companies', is the first book in which post-war Dutch art is presented by making connections between old and new. We see the interaction and the dynamic between the art works, the artists, between the canon who turned the art world upside down and the youngest generation that does not work in isolation but is indebted to its predecessors. An example: the theme ?engagement and expression? provides interaction between Karel Appel, Tanja Ritterbex, Ger Lataster, Lucebert, Carel Visser, Ronald Zuurmond, Anton Rooskens, Gé-Karel van der Sterren, André Volten, Constant, Wessel Couzijn, Shinkichi Tajiri and David Bade.00Exhibition: Singer, Laren, The Netherlands (11.12.2018-14.04.2019).

DIVIn the second novel by the international bestselling Pieter Aspe, Inspector Van In races against the clock to thwart a series of terrorist plots One quiet snow-covered Sunday morning in Bruges, a prominent business executive is found dead in the streets, apparently due to an alcoholic hemorrhage, but for Inspector Van In, there is something about the autopsy that does not add up. When he questions the businessman’s friend, a Dutchman, he too is found dead the next morning, burned to death in a house fire. When there is an explosion in the middle of a popular tourist area in downtown Bruges, Van In strives to find the connection between the three incidents, but no one is coming forward to claim responsibility for this terrorist attack. Just an anonymous letter to the police, threatening more bombings—unless they cooperate with a series of demands that would undermine the entire city government. Aided by the spunky and beautiful assistant DA, Hannelore Martens, Inspector Van In finds himself enmeshed in the case that threatens not just the lives of countless innocent people, but the heart of the city he loves. /div

On The Soft Edge Of Space written by Marleen Sleeuwits and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016 with Art, Dutch categories.

Dutch contemporary artist Marleen Sleeuwits, known for her photography, objects and installations, challenges the imagination in her new artist book, On the Soft Edge of Space. In her visual experiment, the artist presents a four-tiered representation of space: her own photographs of in-between spaces are placed in a scale model, which she then photographs and arranges in the space of a book. The elegantly designed hardcover publication, covering seven years of work and with 200 full-bleed images, creates a maze-like, immersive experience for the viewer. The bare walls of the model offer no context so the viewer feels projected into a timeless vacuum. As we leaf through these rooms, we wonder: when will these spaces come to life and who will lead the waythe room or the user? Like the Light and Space artists of Southern California, Sleeuwits touches upon questions of how spatial qualities alter the viewers perception viscerally. Essay by Basje Boer, Edo Dijksterhuis and Freek Lomme.

Reporting On The Kennedy Assassination written by Willem L. Oltmans and has been published by University Press of Kansas this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-03-17 with History categories.

In March 1964 the Dutch journalist Willem Oltmans (1925–2004) encountered Marguerite Oswald, Lee Harvey Oswald's mother, at JFK International Airport. In April 1977, he found himself testifying before the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA). In the thirteen years between these two events, Oltmans conducted his own investigation into the assassination of John F. Kennedy—an undertaking that would bring him into contact with a host of individuals with prominent roles in the case, most notably George de Mohrenschildt (1911–1977), whose involvement with Oswald and whose own untimely death remain mysteries to this day. Reporting on the Kennedy Assassination is Oltmans's account of his investigation, published here for the first time in English. Combining personal memoir and factual reporting, the book chronicles the journalist's interviews with figures such as Jim Garrison and Cyril Wecht, his long and complicated friendship with de Mohrenschildt and his wife, and his own whirlwind experience in the media spotlight. Most saliently, Reporting on the Kennedy Assassination offers an intimate look at Oltmans's collaboration with de Mohrenschildt on the book that would later become Lee Harvey Oswald as I Knew Him, and at the circumstances surrounding de Mohrenschildt's death and his possible implication in Oswald's actions. Systematically annotated and fact-checked, with an insightful introduction from editor Michael Rinella and a wealth of rare photographs and letters, this book provides a fascinating portrait of one of the twentieth century's most controversial journalists even as it completes a critical chapter in the investigation of the Kennedy assassination.

Arter initiates a new publication series, Arter Background, to accompany exhibitions drawn from its collection, which holds more than 1,300 works of art as of 2019. This second book in the series accompanies the exhibition Words Are Very Unnecessary, a collection-based group exhibition that takes its title from the lyrics in the 1990 Depeche Mode song Enjoy the Silence. Curated by Selen Ansen, the exhibition revolves around the concepts of gesture, remains and trace. In the book, excerpts of texts selected around the ideas active in the curatorial process are complemented by new essays written specifically for this context. It thus features texts on themes associated with vain gestures, hands, quotidian movements, daily objects, remains, non-gestures, remnants, dust, gestures of destruction, gestures of apology and the act of writing, and commissioned essays by Sevinç Çalhanoğlu, Cemal Ener, and Nora Tataryan. “An extraordinary piece of history...a fresh and lively read” (The Christian Science Monitor)—the passionate, gripping, true story of one man’s single-minded quest to reclaim his family’s art collection, stolen by the Nazis in World War II. Simon Goodman’s grandparents came from German-Jewish banking dynasties and perished in concentration camps. And that’s almost all he knew about them—his father rarely spoke of their family history or heritage. But when his father passed away, and Simon received his old papers, a story began to emerge. The Gutmanns, as they were known then, rose from a small Bohemian hamlet to become one of Germany’s most powerful banking families. They also amassed a magnificent, world-class art collection that included works by Degas, Renoir, Botticelli, Guardi, and many, many more. But the Nazi regime snatched from them everything they had worked to build: their remarkable art, their immense wealth, their prominent social standing, and their very lives. Only after his father’s death did Simon begin to piece together the clues about the Gutmanns’ stolen legacy and the Nazi looting machine. With painstaking detective work across two continents, Simon has been able to prove that many works belonged to his family and successfully secure their return. “Fascinating...splendid and tragic” (The Wall Street Journal), “Goodman’s story is alternately wrenching and inspiring...An emotional tale of unspeakable horrors, family devotion, and art as a symbol of hope” (Kirkus Reviews). It is not only the account of a twenty-year detective hunt for family treasure, but an unforgettable tale of redemption and restoration.
