The 40 Acres Art Gallery is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to exposing and educating the Oak Park and greater Sacramento community to a broad range of visual art forms. During 2003, Oakland native and painter Milton Bowens became the first 40 Acres Art Gallery Artist-in-Residence. Bowens lived in the Sacramento neighborhood of Oak Park, immersing himself in Oak Park's culture for six months while also providing workshops and lectures. The visually stimulating exhibition catalogue, "Out of the Corner of My Eye," is a compilation of Bowens' work that was featured in an exhibition at the 40 Acres Art Gallery in 2004.
