O livro Outros nordeste possíveis: gênero e abjeção em Orgia ou o homem que deu cria e Tatuagem busca compreender as relações de gênero e sexualidade em uma espacialidade que se convencionou chamar Nordeste. Para tensionar essas ideias de que a região, assim como o gênero e a sexualidade são conceitos e ideias imutáveis, estáticas, possuidores de uma essência, utilizaremos de dois filmes que nomeiam o livro. Essas questões aparecem aqui como produto de discursos e dentro dos jogos e estrategias de poder em que diferentes agentes estão em constante conflitos a fim de determinar verdades sobre as categorias principais que este livro pretende tensionar. Desse modo, o leitor encontrará nas páginas desses questões referentes a relação entre cinema, sociologia e sociedade; as disputas e mobilizações em torno das questões de gênero e sexualidade (e como essas duas categorias forma essenciais na construção de um imaginário sobre a região Nordeste); traçaremos um debate acerca da ditadura civil-militar iniciada em 1964 e como alguma de suas principais características tais como a censura, repressão a população LGBTQIA+ entre outras não se esgotaram com o fim do período em que os militares comandaram politicamente o país. Mas o livro também mostra resistência, sobretudo a resistência através do corpo e da arte, da liberdade e da criação. Os filmes aqui analisados convidam o leitor a pensar em questões sensíveis e essenciais dentro da construção de nossa sociedade mas também falam de questões referentes a liberdade e utopia.
