La catastrófica trayectoria para el pueblo palestino de los sucesivos planes de paz iniciados en la Conferencia de Madrid (1991) y los Acuerdos de Oslo (1994), la altísima tensión geopolítica de la región y la cada vez más difícil materialización de un Estado palestino viable dada la intensificación de la construcción de asentamientos en Cisjordania por parte del gobierno israelí están causando un sufrimiento inaudito a la sociedad palestina y colocando ante formas de convivencia política cada vez más insostenibles socialmente y mas unilateralmente dependientes de la fuerza militar a la sociedad israelí. La solución de un Estado para palestinos e israelíes apuesta en cambio por la revitalización y la reinvención de la democracia y la justicia en un país, que tras casi un siglo de conflictos directamente enmarañados con las políticas de poder y las graves responsabilidades de las potencias occidentales, cuenta con dos pueblos dotados de suficientes energías creativas como para ofrecer una luz de inteligencia, generosidad y fibra ética que asombren al mundo.
