This timely book examines the rise of posthumanism as both a material condition and a developing philosophical-ethical project in the age of cloning, gene engineering, organ transplants and implants. But the mimetic turn in posthuman studies is not limited to A.I.: from simulation to identification, affective contagion to viral mimesis, robotics to hypermimesis, the essays collected in this volume articulate the multiple facets of homo mimeticus 2.0. More than a decade after its first definitions, critical posthumanism has become consolidated as a key discourse for the understanding of our contemporary state of being within what has been called the paradigm of posthumanity, but also, crucially, as an ideology and a praxis that guides our engagements with the world around us. This double dimension characterizes the contributions to this volume.
