"This edited collection gathers UK and international artists, academics, practitioners and researchers in the fields of contemporary performance, dance and live art to offer creative-critical responses to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their work. Themes addressed in these case studies include the ways in which liveness functions across digital platforms, the new demands on audiences and performance-makers, those artists and makers who can't or won't move their practice online, and the impact on international festivals as the digital removes geographical and locational restrictions. Brought together, these examples capture the creative activity and output that this unexpected cultural moment has provoked. Creative-critical responses interrogate what the global pandemic has taught us about what it is to make live work during lockdown, and explore what the future of performance-making in a post-Covid world might look like. For all scholars and performance makers whose work brings them into the sphere of contemporary art and culture, this is an essential and stimulating account of practice at the beginning of the 2020s"--

The lasting turmoil associated with the unprecedented pandemic, triggered by the novel corona virus COVID-19, has dragged the world into a mud of uncertainty. Fiscal stimulation, interest rate cuts, global supply-chain redeployment, "pandemic bond" and circuit breakers kicked in and the world is responding to this great challenge. But how can finance and economic research help the world under such circumstances? This book dwells on this new area of research and tries to understand how pandemics impact the economic and financial ecosystem of both emerging and advanced economies. Lessons learnt from the experience of previous pandemics maybe presented and discussed through drawing on policy lessons to date. By gathering research on political economy, geopolitical issues, behavioral finance, international institutional responses and medical and health issues resulting from pandemics, the chapters in this edited volume help in expanding the knowledge of social and economic consequences of the pandemic as well as set the foundation for future research. This book would benefit scholars, policy makers and entrepreneurs worldwide as a valuable archive of research on pandemics. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of Emerging Markets Finance and Trade.

Twin Pandemics written by Alison L. Bailey and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-19 with Education categories.

This book examines how the COVID-19 pandemic and racial inequities affect the educational assessment of students, either separately or in combination, as the health crisis was viewed as a factor intersecting with and exacerbating existing racial inequities in educational systems. The four empirical papers in this book attend to the challenges of implementing virtual standardized testing during the coronavirus pandemic, the different educational and assessment experiences of diverse groups of school-age students, and the reconsideration of traditional assessment approaches in response to mounting research evidence and growing concerns around enduring social and racial inequities faced by Black, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous, and other non-white citizens and communities. The four conceptual papers focus primarily on the ways in which assessment may contribute to systemic racism and offer potential solutions to move the educational assessment field forward. In totality, the volume offers needed empirical evidence, innovative methodological approaches, and theoretical and substantive examinations of the effects of the twin pandemics. Twin Pandemics will be a key resource for academics, researchers, and advanced students of Educational Assessment, Education, Psychometrics, Educational Research, Ethnic Studies, Research Methods, Sociology of Education and Psychology. The chapters included in this book were originally published as a special issue of Educational Assessment.

Performance Art: Education and Practice is an introduction to performance art through activities and practice prompts that are framed by seminal moments in the history of the medium as well as the current theoretical discussions surrounding performance. The book begins by introducing the terminology related to performance art and its early history. The basic elements of performance, including the body, objects, space, the public, and the public sphere are approached through thematic and conceptual correlations such as objects as autobiography, body as an expression of gendered identity, performance and the everyday, the augmented body, the archive of performance, and public space as space for intervention. Case studies analysed in each chapter are accompanied by reflective questions and discussion topics. The book proposes a wide range of exercises and comprehensive practice prompts that aim to enhance performance skills, promote experimentation, and encourage an experiential understanding of the theory, history, and concepts relating to performance art. Performance Art: Education and Practice is addressed to students of Fine Arts and Performance Studies from beginner to intermediate level, performance and visual artists who are interested in expanding their knowledge base and creative range, and artist-teachers who are interested in developing their own curriculum and workshop content.

This book examines how Asian countries have responded to urgent challenges against a backdrop of climactic political developments, as well as the effects of issue linkage in policy making. Chapters are arranged according to localities but interlinked through their thematic and critical analyses. The section on Hong Kong focuses on the theme of protests, highlighting its intersection with identity and generational shifts in addition to legal, political and economic changes before and after the adoption of Hong Kong National Security Law. The section examining Taiwan’s policies discusses electoral calculations, identity reconstruction, cross-Strait stalemate and alliance maneuvers within USA-China-Taiwan triangular international relations, providing an overview of its domestic and external policies. Through their analysis, the authors here determine that China has emphasized the prerogatives of history, culture and territorial sovereignty in its dealings with the Hong Kong protests and Taiwan, and that cross-Strait analysis must be deliberated and ultimately determined within the USA-China-Taiwan triangular framework. In the final section, authors examine the USA’s role and policy in dealing with both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Hegemonic power transition has been a primary concern in both countries with the USA’s hegemonic status facing daunting challenges from China, increasingly perceived as an ascending revisionist power waiting to overtake the USA in the future.

Yang's Fateful Choices offers a penetrating study of China's management of the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, a momentous event that has reverberated globally as the severe pandemic in a century. Yang's work sheds light on the advantage Chinese health decision-makers had, including access to the novel coronavirus's genomic sequences from several laboratories, as early as the end of December 2019. It was at this time that an emergency action program was initiated to combat the burgeoning outbreak in Wuhan"--
