In January of 1974, David Godlis, then a 22-year-old photo student, took a ten-day trip to Miami Beach, Florida. Excited to visit an area he had frequented a decade earlier as a kid, GODLIS set his sights on an area of slightly outdated efficiency art deco hotels that was then a busy Jewish retiree enclave on the expansive beaches facing the Atlantic Ocean. These retirees, all dressed up in their best beach outfits, would spend their days on lounges and lawn chairs, playing cards amidst the sunshine and palm trees. GODLIS walked his way through this somewhat surrealistic scene, shooting what he now considers his first good photographs. In so doing he discovered his own Street Photography style - an eclectic mix of influences, from Robert Frank to Diane Arbus, from Garry Winogrand to Lee Friedlander.

Buzz Aldrin What Happened To You In All The Confusion written by Johan Harstad and has been published by Seven Stories Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-06-07 with Fiction categories.

A Kirkus Reviews Best Fiction Title of 2011 In Buzz Aldrin, What Happened to You in All the Confusion?, readers follow a man who wishes not to be followed, a man who, after a series of personal and professional disasters, finds himself lying on a rain-soaked road in the desolate, treeless Faroe Islands, population only a few thousand, a wad of bills in his pocket and no memory of how he had come to be there. From there, Brage Award-winning author and playwright Johan Harstad's debut novel--previously published to great success in eleven countries with its first English-language appearance in June 2011--tells the story of Mattias, a thirty-something gardener living in Stavanger, Norway, whose idol is Buzz Aldrin, second man on the moon: the man who was willing to stand in Neil Armstrong's shadow in order to work, diligently and humbly, for the success of the Apollo 11 mission. Through Harstad's "delectably light but nonetheless impactful prose . . . [t]he novel's finest moments wrap you up in communion with Mattias, as if you are spending a quiet afternoon with an old friend, chatting but mostly thinking" (Three Percent). Surrounded by a vivid and memorable cast of characters--aspiring pop musicians, Caribbean-obsessed psychologists, death-haunted photographers, girls who dream of anonymous men falling in love with them on bus trips, and even Buzz Aldrin himself--"Harstad combines formal play and linguistic ferocity with a searing emotional directness" (Dedi Felman, Words Without Borders) to bring Mattias to the realization that he cannot always blend into the background.

The heart-warming and romantic SUNDAY TIMES bestseller: the perfect escape One little mistake and nothing will ever be the same again! On the one hand, if Essie hadn't written that letter - the one that only her best friend was meant to see - then she'd still be living like an actual proper grown-up, tucked up with Paul in his picture-perfect cottage, maybe even planning their wedding... On the other hand (if her true feelings hadn't accidentally taken the internet by storm, that is) she wouldn't have moved into the attic flat on the square. She would never have met Conor. Or got to know Lucas... And she wouldn't have found herself falling in love with someone she really, really shouldn't fall in love with... 'One of my favourite writers' Katie Fforde 'The queen of witty, heart-warming, feel-good love stories' Red 'Reading Jill is always such a joy!' Veronica Henry 'Jill Mansell just gets better and better' Heat ***** 'A fab, feel-good read' Prima 'A page-turner' Look

It also goes beyond the artist, acknowledging the pop culture icon she is today, by exploring her undeniable impact on art, fashion and musicFor over more than four decades, Frida Kahlo has become the world's most renowned Mexican artist. Since recent years, the collection of clothing and personal artifacts from the Frida Kahlo Museum -- known colloquially as the Blue House -- has also been exhibited outside of Mexico with overwhelming success. Much has been written about Frida Kahlo. WBOOKS wanted to create a book that would be different from existing publications, not only in terms of content but also in terms of design. It contains some 50 of Frida Kahlo's paintings and drawings, as well as personal attributes such as clothing, her sunglasses, her Revlon lipstick and the corsets and prostheses that she had to wear due to a serious accident at a young age. A #1 INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER 'Bernhard Schlink speaks straight to the heart' New York Times 'Brilliant... A tale of love and loss in 20th century Germany' Evening Standard 'A cleverly-constructed tale of cross-class romance' Mail on Sunday 'A poignant portrait of a woman out of step with her time' Observer Olga is an orphan raised by her grandmother in a Prussian village around the turn of the 20th century. Smart and precocious, she fights against the prejudices of the time to find her place in a world that sees her as second-best. When she falls in love with Herbert, a local aristocrat obsessed with the era's dreams of power, glory and greatness, her life is irremediably changed. Theirs is a love against all odds, entwined with the twisting paths of German history, leading us from the late 19th to the early 21st century, from Germany to Africa and the Arctic, from the Baltic Sea to the German south-west. This is the story of that love, of Olga's devotion to a restless man - told in thought, letters and in a fateful moment of great rebellion.

Judas written by Amos Oz and has been published by Wahlström & Widstrand this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-04-06 with Fiction categories.
