Pouco depois de terminar sua 'Estética', o autor deu início à realização de um projeto de longo prazo - escrever uma 'Ética' sistemática, que seria o somatório de todas as suas obras. Produziu um esboço sem dificuldades. Dois meses depois, no entanto, reclamava que sua Ética avançava muito lentamente, pois parecia necessário primeiro escrever uma grande parte introdutória sobre a ontologia do ser social. Essa 'parte introdutória' acabou se tornando uma obra gigantesca, de cerca de 2 mil páginas, intitulada 'Para uma ontologia do ser social'. Esta, por sua vez, o obrigou a escrever seus 'Prolegômenos para uma ontologia do ser social' obra à qual ele tentava dar os retoques finais quando morreu. Assim, Lukács não conseguiu realizar aquele que talvez tenha sido seu projeto mais caro - a elaboração dos princípios fundamentais de uma ética marxista. Apesar de hoje estarmos suficientemente documentados acerca da Ontologia como obra autônoma, toda a discussão futura a seu respeito não deve desconsiderar o fato de a obra ter sido concebida como parte integrante do empenho de Lukács em identificar o quadro referencial ético próprio das relações humanas socialistas.

Após a publicação da primeira parte de sua Estética, em 1963, o filósofo húngaro György Lukács começou a trabalhar no ambicioso projeto de uma Ética que sintetizaria sua longa trajetória intelectual. Em suas investigações, porém, notou a "necessidade de uma elaboração prévia: a determinação histórico-concreta do modo de ser e de reproduzir-se do ser social", como aponta José Paulo Netto, professor da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Esses esforços são concluídos em 1969 e publicados postumamente com o título de Para uma ontologia do ser social. Com o objetivo de explicar melhor alguns conceitos apresentados, no início dos anos 1970 Lukács passa a trabalhar no manuscrito do que seriam os Prolegômenos para uma ontologia do ser social: questões de princípios para uma ontologia hoje tornada possível, publicados também postumamente, em 1984, e agora traduzidos pela primeira vez para o português pela Boitempo Editorial.

Conjunto inédito de entrevistas concedidas pelo filósofo húngaro em seus últimos anos de vida, de 1966 a 1971, a nova obra da coleção Biblioteca Lukács oferece ao leitor temas que vão desde questões relativas a ontologia, estética, política e cultura – passando pela autocrítica de sua produção intelectual – até uma defesa da necessidade da retomada do pensamento marxiano para além das experiências socialistas do século XX. Segundo Lukács, não há como separar o campo da teoria da atividade política. Os movimentos sociais são, para ele, "sempre úteis ao trabalho" intelectual. Nesse sentido, fica claro, ao longo das entrevistas, que as lutas ocorridas na década de 1960 não passaram despercebidas pelo pensador, que traça considerações acerca da revolta das mulheres e do movimento negro nos Estados Unidos, da luta de libertação em diversas colônias africanas, da crise dos mísseis nucleares em Cuba e das manifestações dos estudantes franceses de 1968. This book presents procedures and research techniques that are based on critical perspectives of Psychology and Education. The content is characterized by innovations on the relationship between the researcher and the investigated context, and it problematizes different perspectives and approaches to the psychological phenomenon proposing new understandings of the subject, the world, the social and the field of investigation itself as a permanent dialectical movement. The book reports to Marxist-based perspectives - especially to Vygotsky's ideas and concepts. Therefore, it assumes the comprehension that in order to understand the phenomenon in its historical dimension it is necessary to put it into motion seeking to access the genesis of the manifestations evidenced at the moment of the investigation. That is, the historicity that characterizes the process of constitution of the human psyche can only be apprehended in its movement, thus, what matters is the process and not the product of its development. Nevertheless, apprehending phenomena in movement is a challenge for researchers interested in human processes within the scope of relationships or practices of professionals and/or subjects of various scenarios, which leads to the need to problematize the different moments of research and their dimension in the theoretical and practical fields. Which methodological techniques or procedures allow the apprehension of the meaning movement produced by the subjects in the investigated scenarios? To what extent does dialectical materialism derived from Marxism support the apprehension and analysis of research information of this nature? What other theoretical-methodological perspectives, related to Cultural-Historical Psychology, offer subsidies to these investigations? The theoretical perspectives based on the Social and Cultural analysis focus on the understandings of collective contexts precisely because of the subject view constituted in the inter-subjective relations that it undertakes - which adds even more complexity to the investigative processes. From this perspective, both the subject and other participants transform themselves during the investigation, such transformation needs to be permanently reflected and included in the research objectives and purposes, in order to follow the movement of the meanings in the expressed phenomenon.
