One of the top challenges that parents of this generation face is how to effectively cultivate cooperation within their children, that doesn't involve coercion and/or bribes, especially if the children are behaving in wild, boisterous, or uncontrollable ways. Tangee Veloso, founder of Family Love Village, and a parent of such a wild child herself, introduces an innovative parenting approach that does not involve forcing a child to behave, but instead addresses the child's dis-connection and unmet needs, which can be the catalyst of wild behavior. In her groundbreaking book, Taming Your Wild Child, Tangee presents the brilliant concept that it is the wild child in YOU that you need to tame. By using the 7 Proven Principles, which allow you to become more compassionate toward your children and help create connection and a loving PARTNERSHIP with them...rather than a relationship of power over...they will also reflect the same confidence and compassion toward themselves and others. Experience the organic transformation of their behavior, as well as your own, in the process. In this book, you will discover: - What it means to be a conscious parent in your own home - How to become aware of your choices - The 7 principles that can build a deeper connection with your child - How to set loving boundaries without losing your cool - Techniques that honor self-care and self-love - Being more present with your parenting choices - Why it is so important to find your own village to cultivate connection amongst other parents and caregivers on this same parenting journey

Exploring how the figure of the “wild child” in contemporary fiction grapples with contemporary cultural anxieties about reproductive ethics and the future of humanity In the eighteenth century, Western philosophy positioned the figure of “the child” at the border between untamed nature and rational adulthood. Contemporary cultural anxieties about the ethics and politics of reproductive choice and the crisis of parental responsibility have freighted this liminal figure with new meaning in twenty-first-century narratives. In Wild Child, Naomi Morgenstern explores depictions of children and their adult caregivers in extreme situations—ranging from the violence of slavery and sexual captivity to accidental death, mass murder, torture, and global apocalypse—in such works as Toni Morrison’s A Mercy, Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, Lionel Shriver’s We Need to Talk about Kevin, Emma Donoghue’s Room, and Denis Villeneuve’s film Prisoners. Morgenstern shows how, in such narratives, “wild” children function as symptoms of new ethical crises and existential fears raised by transformations in the technology and politics of reproduction and by increased ethical questions about the very decision to reproduce. In the face of an uncertain future that no longer confirms the confidence of patriarchal humanism, such narratives displace or project present-day apprehensions about maternal sacrifice and paternal protection onto the wildness of children in a series of hyperbolically violent scenes. Urgent and engaging, Wild Child offers the only extended consideration of how twenty-first-century fiction has begun to imagine the decision to reproduce and the ethical challenges of posthumanist parenting.

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 We have a strange relationship with nature. We seek it out to stroll, run, swim, commune, and socialize in. We also kill it for sport and place it in cages for our amusement. We literally chew up and swallow large amounts of nature daily to fuel our bodily selves. #2 The idyllic nature outing is not as idyllic when you consider the threats that exist outside of your bubble. Imagine hiking the hills near your home if there were a chance of running into a grizzly bear, or wolves. #3 Humans have eliminated most of the large animals from the world, and today, we live in a world where nature is mostly made up of raw materials. But a growing movement seeks to reinstate the fear factor that is part of our wild heritage. #4 We are deeply connected with nature, and we fail to realize this connection. We exist only as flow-through beings, constantly consuming and evacuating nature in order to maintain our physical selves.

“Quiet but compelling arguments about the importance of kids getting out more and connecting to nature . . . A book that deserves to flourish.” —The Guardian From climbing trees and making dens, to building sandcastles and pond-dipping, many of the activities we associate with a happy childhood take place outdoors. And yet, the reality for many contemporary children is very different. The studies tell us that we are raising a generation who are so alienated from nature that they can’t identify the commonest birds or plants, they don’t know where their food comes from, they are shuttled between home, school and the shops and spend very little time in green spaces—let alone roaming free. In this timely and personal book, celebrated nature writer Patrick Barkham draws on his own experience as a parent and a forest school volunteer to explore the relationship between children and nature. Unfolding over the course of a year of snowsuits, muddy wellies, and sunhats, Wild Child is both an intimate story of children finding their place in the natural world and a celebration of the delight we can all find in even modest patches of green. “Entrancing . . . If ever there was a book to fuel the ecological interest of future generations, this is it.”—Isabella Tree, author of Wilding “Barkham takes us through a year giving his children an education in wildness. He encourages them that a physical relationship with wildlife is of the utmost importance . . . His memoir reveals the abundance of wildlife that can be explored in our own back gardens.” —The Herald

This is a book for the wild children and those who love them. The children who don't fit the boxes, the free spirits, the wavemakers, the innovators; the children who cannot be moulded ... even if they want to be. It is also for the parents, grandparents, teachers, carers and anyone else lucky enough to know a wild child but has been made to feel that they are just not trying hard enough. Or maybe they're trying too hard, not doing what they should, being too soft, being too strict ... making things up or imagining things. If that sounds familiar, it is a book for you, too. This book will provide you with an understanding of your child, help you overcome your fears, and give you hope for their future. It will guide you through practical strategies for helping your distressed child in the middle of a meltdown and show you how to move on, learn from and diminish meltdowns. This book will restore your relationship with your child and their relationship with themselves ... All these are excellent reasons why you should read it ... But, fundamentally, you should read this book because it could ultimately save your child's life.
