Particles, Fields, Space-Time: From Thomson’s Electron to Higgs’ Boson explores the concepts, ideas, and experimental results that brought us from the discovery of the first elementary particle in the end of the 19th century to the completion of the Standard Model of particle physics in the early 21st century. The book concentrates on disruptive events and unexpected results that fundamentally changed our view of particles and how they move through space-time. It separates the mathematical and technical details from the narrative into focus boxes, so that it remains accessible to non-scientists, yet interesting for those with a scientific background who wish to further their understanding. The text presents and explains experiments and their results wherever appropriate. This book is of interest to a general audience but also to students studying particle physics, physics teachers at all levels, and scientists with a recreational curiosity towards the subject. For this second edition, the complete text has been thoroughly revised. A description of plans for new accelerator facilities has been added, as well as new results on cosmic ray physics, dark matter and dark energy. The usage of natural units has been abandoned in favour of SI units throughout the text. Key Features: Short, comprehensive overview concentrating on major breakthroughs, disruptive ideas, and unexpected results Accessible to all interested in subatomic physics with little prior knowledge required Contains the latest developments in this exciting field

Particles And Quantum Fields written by Hagen Kleinert and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-30 with Science categories.
This is an introductory book on elementary particles and their interactions. It starts out with many-body Schrödinger theory and second quantization and leads, via its generalization, to relativistic fields of various spins and to gravity. The text begins with the best known quantum field theory so far, the quantum electrodynamics of photon and electrons (QED). It continues by developing the theory of strong interactions between the elementary constituents of matter (quarks). This is possible due to the property called asymptotic freedom. On the way one has to tackle the problem of removing various infinities by renormalization. The divergent sums of infinitely many diagrams are performed with the renormalization group or by variational perturbation theory (VPT). The latter is an outcome of the Feynman-Kleinert variational approach to path integrals discussed in two earlier books of the author, one representing a comprehensive treatise on path integrals, the other dealing with critial phenomena. Unlike ordinary perturbation theory, VPT produces uniformly convergent series which are valid from weak to strong couplings, where they describe critical phenomena. The present book develops the theory of effective actions which allow to treat quantum phenomena with classical formalism. For example, it derives the observed anomalous power laws of strongly interacting theories from an extremum of the action. Their fluctuations are not based on Gaussian distributions, as in the perturbative treatment of quantum field theories, or in asymptotically-free theories, but on deviations from the average which are much larger and which obey power-like distributions.Exactly solvable models are discussed and their physical properties are compared with those derived from general methods. In the last chapter we discuss the problem of quantizing the classical theory of gravity.

Quantum Field Theory In Curved Spacetime written by Leonard Parker and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-08-20 with Science categories.
Quantum field theory in curved spacetime has been remarkably fruitful. It can be used to explain how the large-scale structure of the universe and the anisotropies of the cosmic background radiation that we observe today first arose. Similarly, it provides a deep connection between general relativity, thermodynamics, and quantum field theory. This book develops quantum field theory in curved spacetime in a pedagogical style, suitable for graduate students. The authors present detailed, physically motivated, derivations of cosmological and black hole processes in which curved spacetime plays a key role. They explain how such processes in the rapidly expanding early universe leave observable consequences today, and how in the context of evaporating black holes, these processes uncover deep connections between gravitation and elementary particles. The authors also lucidly describe many other aspects of free and interacting quantized fields in curved spacetime.

Unified Field Mechanics, the topic of the 9th international symposium honoring noted French mathematical physicist Jean-Pierre Vigier cannot be considered highly speculative as a myopic critic might surmise. The 8th Vigier Symposium proceedings 'The Physics of Reality' should in fact be touted as a companion volume because of its dramatic theoretical Field Mechanics in additional dimensionality. Many still consider the Planck-scale zero-point field stochastic quantum foam as the 'basement of reality'. This could only be considered true under the limitations of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum theory. As we enter the next regime of Unified Field Mechanics we now know that the energy-dependent Einstein-Minkowski manifold called spacetime has a finite radius beyond which a large-scale multiverse beckons. So far a battery of 14 experiments has been designed to falsify the model. When the 1st is successfully performed, a revolution in Natural Science will occur! This volume strengthens and expands the theoretical and experimental basis for that immanent new age.

The book provides readers with an understanding of the mutual conditioning of spacetime and interactions and matter. The spacetime manifold will be looked at to be a reservoir for the parametrization of operation Lie groups or subgroup classes of Lie groups. With basic operation groups or Lie algebras, all physical structures can be interpreted in terms of corresponding realizations or representations. Physical properties are related eigenvalues or invariants. As an explicit example of operational spacetime is proposed, called electroweak spacetime, parametrizing the classes of the internal hypercharge - isospin group in the general linear group in two complex dimensions, i.e., the Lorentz cover group, extended by the casual (dilation) and phase group. Its representations and invariants will be investigated with the aim to connect them, qualitatively and numerically, with the properties of interactions and particles as arising in the representations of its tangent Minkowski spaces.

The Symposium on Asymptotic Structure of Space-Time (SOASST) was held at the University of Cincinnati, June 14-18, 1976. We had been thinking of organizing a symposium on the properties of "in finity" for several years. The subject had reached a stage of maturity and had also formed a basis for important current investi gations. It was felt that a symposium, together with a publication of the proceedings, would review, summarize, and consolidate, the more mature aspects of the field and serve as an appropriate intro duction to an expanding body of research. We had from the first the enthusiastic support and encouragement of many colleagues; with their cooperation and advice, the Symposium acquired its final form. These proceedings will attest to the value of the Symposium. The Symposium consisted of thirty lectures and had an attendance of approximately one hundred and thirty. The final impetus to our decision to go forward was the Bicen tennial Anniversary of the independence of our country. A most appropriate celebration on a University Campus surely is an intel lectual Symposium which pays honor to the histories and traditional purposes of a University. The Symposium was supported financially by the University of Cincinnatl Bicentennial Committee, the National Science Foundation, the Gravity Research Foundation, and by Armand Knoblaugh, Professor Emeritus of Physics of the University of Cincinnati.

PROTO SPACE - TIME: Rewriting the Fabric of Reality What if space and time as we have been taught it are not fundamental? What if everything we thought we understood—from gravity to consciousness—is just a surface ripple, a visible pattern riding on something deeper, older, and far more intelligent? In Proto Space-Time, David J.L. Savage unveils a bold new theory that challenges the most sacred pillars of modern science. Seamlessly blending physics, philosophy, and poetic clarity, this revolutionary book proposes that the universe we observe is not the foundation, but the consequence—a visible bloom atop a vast, invisible root system he calls the Proto Space-Time Field. From this field, Savage argues, arise not only space, time, gravity and matter—but consciousness, memory, and the very structure of life itself. With stunning clarity, Proto Space-Time reframes dark energy not as a cosmic mystery, but as a dynamic output of this deeper field. Gravity is unmasked not as a force, but as an emergent illusion. Entanglement is recast as the universal scaffolding of all creation. Across 14 compelling chapters, the book guides readers through: The collapse of spacetime as a first principle A reimagining of the Higgs field as a cosmic regulator The entropic engine of expansion misnamed “dark energy” How galaxies and spiral symmetry echo deeper field attractors A mind-bending reinterpretation of black holes as quantum information vaults The future of artificial intelligence in a quantum-aware universe And a radical synthesis: one that reweaves physics with metaphysics Drawing on both established science and visionary speculation, Savage presents a model that invites not only understanding but participation. This is not a passive cosmos. It is intelligent, recursive, self-aware. And we, the observers, are not separate from it, but extensions of its living memory. For readers of Carlo Rovelli, Brian Greene, and Rupert Sheldrake, this book offers a rare fusion of rigour and imagination, placing it squarely at the intersection of breakthrough science and spiritual inquiry. It dares to suggest that the mind is not merely a side-effect of the brain, but a quantum phenomenon threaded into the very fabric of spacetime. “You are not in the universe. The universe is in you.” Proto Space-Time is not just a theory. It is a map to a new paradigm. A call to witness the invisible. To remember the real. To ask not what the universe is made of but why it remembers, creates, and evolves at all. Whether you’re a physicist, philosopher, poet or seeker, then this book may just shift the lens through which you see everything.

This book sets up a discrete universe with minimum and maximum dimensions. Singularity is rejected.Entropic Spacetime Theory divides the universe into a kinetic system and an entropic spacetime. The kinetic system is what our present physics is all about; it deals with radiation (vector bosons) and mass particles (fermions). Relativity and quantum mechanics deal almost entirely in the kinetic system. The entropic spacetime (EST) defines space; in this theory there is no vacuum ? EST is space. Made up of energy and dipole charges, its values can be converted into length and time. The theory offers a new description of space, a new cosmology, names space as the original creator of all new matter and radiation.
