These two books have been included in full in our present narration, with Roman Transliteration of the original verses that are in Hindi, and each verse is accompanied by an extensive exposition in English alongside detailed notes to bring all matters relevant to the concerned verse under focus. It's a rare Book and the first of its kind that has ever been published in English. Kavitawali Of Goswami Tulsidas written by Sri Ajai Kumar Chhawchharia and has been published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-01-24 with categories.

'Kavitawali' is the legendary story of Lord Ram that was written by saint-poet Goswami Tulsidas as part of his Trilogy on Lord Ram's life and time-popularly known as 'Ramayan'. The other two books in this Trilogy are Geetawali and the epic Ram Charit Manas. Each of the three books of the Trilogy is a masterpiece in itself. The other two books would also be made available by this author as soon as they are ready for publication. 'Kavitawali' narrates the story of Lord Ram in a poetic style that is called 'Kavitta' in Hindi. It is basically fine and excellent poetry in one of its best forms, being written as it is in Tulsidas' unique style of narration that is at once lucid, enchanting and captivating for the mind. He has employed all the skills and mastery of words that he is so famous for. The probable reason of his writing Kavitawali (and for that matter Geetawali as well, besides, of course, the epic Ram Charit Manas) is perhaps he wished to narrate the excellent story of Lord Ram in from different angles and employing different styles of poetic composition so that the story as a whole becomes exceedingly enchanting, fascinating and beautiful as it could now be read and recited in various styles and tones to suit every mood and liking of the reader. Further, it helped Tulsidas to describe many aspects of the story which could not be possibly highlighted sufficiently in one book alone due to various restrictions-such as for instance the restrictions imposed by the style selected for the composition, or the flow of the narration, or the limitations of pages-could be overcome in the next book. So, Kavitawali helped Tulsidas to express himself better and more articulately because now he could focus his attention more to highlight in very expressive terms certain parts or aspects of the epic story as well as to fill in certain gaps that he couldn't probably do in the other two books of the Trilogy. Description: In ten short works contained in this volume, Tulsi composes verses on themes which evaluate his religious perspectives. Only three of these works are based on the deeds of Rama : In Baravai Ramayana, the rapture of devotion in the Name of Rama is brought out; in Ramalala Nahachhu Tulsi reiterates his faith in the Saguna form of Rama; in Ramajna Prashna, he ostensibly reads omens from the Deeds of Rama but concludes that all welfare depends on the devotion of Rama. Three of the works : Sankata Mochana, Hanuman Bahuka and Hanuman Chalisa are dedicated to Sri Hanuman. Tulsi's avowed principle was 'greater than Lord, the Lord's devotee take to be.' In the long poem Janaki Mangal Tulsi sings of the wedding ceremony of adi-shakti Sita to Rama. In Parvati Mangal, he departs from the story of Rama and sings on the wedding ceremony of adarsha-nari Parvati to Lord Shiva. In Vairagya Sandipini Tulsi observes that vairagya is not renunciation of the worldly duties but of Ego and bonds of 'I and mine.' Krishna Gitavali is a work totally unconnected with the story of Rama, the only common link between them being the supremacy of devotion and bhakti which is the reason for this work finding place in this anthology

Whenever the word Hindu comes up for discussion, at the very outset, it is announced that the word has its origin in the word Sindhu, the Sanskrit term for the river Indus. That statement is taken for granted as an axiom and repeated by all. It is not seen in the public domain that anybody has ever raised any doubt on that explanation. The current explanation has gone ex silentio. Arguments may be put forward to expose many logical loopholes in the present explanation. This book tries to highlight the logical inconsistencies of the present explanation and at the same time tries to provide a more consistent alternative explanation of the origin of the word Hindu that has a traceable root to the core values of that way of life.

The Wrestler S Body written by Joseph S. Alter and has been published by Univ of California Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992-08-03 with Social Science categories.

The Wrestler's Body tells the story of a way of life organized in terms of physical self-development. While Indian wrestlers are competitive athletes, they are also moral reformers whose conception of self and society is fundamentally somatic. Using the insights of anthropology, Joseph Alter writes an ethnography of the wrestler's physique that elucidates the somatic structure of the wrestler's identity and ideology. Young men in North India may choose to join an akhara, or gymnasium, where they subject themselves to a complex program of physical and moral fitness. Alter's first-hand description of each detail of the wrestler's regimen offers a unique perspective on South Asian culture and society. Wrestlers feel that moral reform of Indian national character is essential and advocate their way of life as an ideology of national health. Everyone is called on to become a wrestler and build collective strength through self-discipline.
