Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 2,0, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen (Sprache Literatur Kultur - Germanistik), Veranstaltung: Paul Celan, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Niemandsrose ist der vierte von acht Bänden und seine Fertigstellung dauerte vier Jahre. Das Gedicht "Die Silbe Schmerz", welches ich in dieser Arbeit analysieren werde, befindet sich ziemlich am Ende des Gedichtszyklus. Dieser Gedichtband nimmt eine besondere Stellung innerhalb des Gesamtwerkes ein, denn er stellt den Höhe- und Wendepunkt Celanscher Dichtung dar: Die Gedichte entstanden zwischen 1959 und 1963. Eine Lebensphase Celans, die durch zunehmende psychische Instabilität gezeichnet war. Einerseits sah er sich durch antisemitische Literaturkritiker bedroht, fühlte sich wegen seiner jüdischen Herkunft diskriminiert und fürchtete ein Wiederaufleben des Antisemitismus in Deutschland. Andererseits stürzte ihn die sogenannte "Goll-Affäre" in tiefe Depressionen. Claire Goll bezichtigte Celan im Jahre 1960, er habe von ihrem Mann Ivan Goll abgekupfert. Für Celan begann hiermit eine persönliche sowie dichterische Neuorientierung. Im Zentrum standen jetzt vor allem die Beschäftigung mit russischer Literatur (besonders zwischen den Jahren 1960 und 1961) und dem Judentum. In keinem andern Zyklus tauchen so häufig jüdische Begrifflichkeiten, Mythen und derartiges auf. Er widmete den Zyklus dem russischen Lyriker Ossip Mandelstam. Dieser stellt einen besonderen Bezugspunkt Celans dar, da Mandelstam ebenfalls jüdischer Abstammung und verfolgter Dichter war. Viele Gedichte haben biografischen Hintergrund und wurden zu bestimmten Ereignissen verfasst. Einige der letzten Gedichte des Bandes beziehen sich zum Beispiel auf einen Aufenthalt in der Bretagne. Es handelte sich dabei damals um einen für Celan sehr schwierigen Lebensabschnitt, da er oben genannte Rückschläge zu verkraften hatte und sich im Zuge dessen zum ersten Mal in klinische Behandlu

Paul Celan: Studies in His Early Poetry scrutinizes the influences detectable in the poems written during 1938-48. Among German writers, Büchner, Goethe, Gottfried von Strassburg, Gryphius, Mörike, the poet of the Nibelungenlied, Novalis, Rilke, and Trakl all provided motifs that, often repeated, make for a dense network inviting attention to the self-referential and self-revealing patterns in Celan's early work. In addition, there are many poems that contain motifs gleaned from Greek mythology and/or biblical data. These references, on occasion quite clear, more often so obscure as to be hazy allusions, yield the view that during his first decade of poetic activities Celan becomes increasingly recondite. When these references or allusions stand side-by-side in a given poem, they acquire a surrealistic tint and threaten to withhold clear meaning. Ambiguities, deliberately cultivated in the earliest poems, begin to boomerang and read like so many preludes to the struggles with language evident in the poetry of Celan's maturity. It is a certainty that Celan reacted quickly, if not immediately, to the events befalling the scenes of his early years (Czernowitz and the forced-labor camp). This phenomenon mandates the view of his poems as so many pieces of autobiography. It thus is inevitable that as early as 1940 he wrote against the backdrop of war, and soon thereafter in the shadow of the Holocaust that was destined to brand his mind forever. This volume is meant for anyone interested in Celan, close reading of modern poetry in general, comparative literature, motif studies, poetic reactions to Holocaust events, or even in a Jew's concept regarding the role of the deity in the destruction of those for whom the poet speaks.

Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,7, Freie Universität Berlin (Institut für Deutsche und Niederländische Philologie), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Zeitraum 1959/60 befindet sich Paul Celan in einer Phase intensiver poetologischer Selbstreflexion: im August 1959 entsteht sein „Gespräch im Gebirg“, der einzige erzählende Prosatext im Werk des Lyrikers, knapp ein Jahr später im Oktober 1960 die Büchnerpreisrede „Der Meridian“, die als wichtigste poetologische Äußerung Celans gilt. Währenddessen schließt er „Sprachgitter“ ab und beginnt die Arbeit an der „Niemandsrose“, seinem vierten Gedichtband. In denselben Zeitraum fällt Celans Bekanntschaft mit Adorno, die von einem Briefwechsel begleitet wird. In einem Brief vom 23. Mai 1960, der die Übersendung des „Gesprächs im Gebirg“ an Adorno begleitet, spricht Celan das erste Mal von Involution. Der Begriff taucht in den Arbeitsnotizen zum „Meridian“ ebenfalls mehrfach auf. Bernhard Böschenstein kommt der Verdienst zu, ihn hier zuerst gesehen und publik gemacht zu haben. Marlies Janz jedoch war die Erste, die das häufige Auftreten des Begriffes in den unterschiedlichsten Zusammenhängen als Anlass für die Vermutung nahm, dass es sich bei der Involution um ein systematisches Konzept handeln müsse, das einen zentralen Aspekt der Celanschen Poetik darstellt. Die Erkenntnisse, die Janz bereits seit einigen Jahren im Rahmen ihrer Lehrtätigkeit am Institut für Neuere deutsche Literatur an der Freien Universität Berlin einer kleineren Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht hat, sind nun in systematischer Form in ihrem Beitrag zum aktuellen Celan-Jahrbuch erschienen. Die Thesen, die Janz in ihrem Essay „'Judendeutsch'. Paul Celans Gespräch im Gebirg im Kontext der 'Atemwende'“ formuliert, sind der zentrale Ausgangspunkt für diese Magisterarbeit. Der Begriff „Involution“ leitet sich von dem lateinischen Verb „involvere“ ab, das im Sinne von einhüllen bzw. verhüllen, verbergen verwendet wird Involution wird in erster Linie im medizinisch-biologischen Kontext verwendet und bezeichnet dort die Rückbildung der Organe und ihrer Leistungen im Alter. Leibniz verwendete Involution daran anknüpfend als „Einwicklung des Organismus“ durch den Tod im Gegensatz zur Evolution als „Entwicklung des Lebens“. Die Verknüpfung von Involution und Tod ist auch im Rahmen der Celanschen Poetik von großer Bedeutung.
