In the first major analysis of Paul's understanding of Gentile salvation in several years, Bible scholar Terence Donaldson offers a creative approach to the apostle's theological convictions. According to Donaldson, Paul as a believer in Jesus Christ did not abandon his Jewish frame of reference but reconfigured it, especially by the stimulus of his mission to the Gentiles.

Essay from the year 2014 in the subject Theology - Biblical Theology, Trinity Theological College Perth, course: Theological Themes in Luke-Acts, language: English, abstract: This essay addresses the question: “How does Luke develop his defence of Paul’s mission to the Gentiles? Can this teach us anything today for our understanding of our practice of cross-cultural mission?” In addressing the aforementioned question, this essay follows various stories and assertions in Luke-Acts that show his (Luke) development of the defence of Paul’s Gentile mission. The literary and narrative study of the accounts on Peter, the Jerusalem Council and Cornelius, significantly help resolve the imminent and crucial theological and missiological approach to the Gentile mission. Luke develops the Gentile motif, which begins earlier on in the Gospel of Luke through Acts. He is without question setting up a platform for a Gentile mission agenda, even before Paul appears on the scene. Luke systematically addresses the vivid and crucial cosmographic and trans-historical movement of the missio-dei. This paper follows these arguments to see how Luke validates and defends Paul’s mission to the Gentiles. Lessons learnt from Luke’s validation of the Gentile mission will be applied for present day hermeneutical and cross-cultural missional approach. A conclusion will then be drawn.

Paul as Missionary: Identity, Activity, Theology and Practice takes the view that before anything else Paul must first and foremost be identified as a missionary. Using the entire Pauline corpus the contributors to this volume assess what Paul's correspondence can tell us about how he perceived his role and identity. The work comprises four parts: in section one, Paul's identity as priest, eschatological herald, and missionary-pastor are explored while in part two topics such as the apostle's activity among pagans, his suffering, and Paul's missionary message; to the church at Rome are considered. Section three comprises essays on the Spirit as the governing dynamic, the glory of God as the apostles missionary goal, and the importance of Paul's Christology in shaping his mission to the Gentiles. Finally, part four addresses Paul's missionary praxis, including his support of his missionary enterprise.

Paul S Theology Of Mission To The Nations In Romans written by Subhro Sekhar Sircar and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017 with Bible categories.

The book is meant to investigate the preaching of the gospel of God as Paul's mission to the nations in the letter to the Romans. The work begins with an explanation of the topic and its importance in the mission context, which sets the stage for the main body of the book. As evidence to this purpose, this work first explores the epistolary frame of the letter and contends that Paul basically had a missionary purpose for writing the Romans. The letter opening and closing affirm this divine commission and authority for preaching the gospel to all the nations. Paul skillfully establishes the universal significance of the gospel he was called to preach. Then it further examines God's identity in Paul's mission to the nations. God is the foundation and starting point for Paul's mission to the nations. Paul frequently uses descriptive statements regarding God's acts. He has made it plain that God's true identity is bounded by his actions for his people. These statements clearly demonstrate that the biblical God is not only the divine being, who encompasses divine attributes and nature. He is additionally the one who acts, which forms the distinct Christian identity of God, revealed fully and only in Jesus. This scholarly work further considers Paul's mission in the context of his missionary function. Paul was commissioned to preach the gospel, and specifically, his call was to be an apostle to the Gentiles; he was set apart for "the gospel of God." The gospel's authority lies with God, who owns it and originated it. The preaching of the gospel concerns God's Son, a promise God made in the Old Testament, which is now fulfilled in the incarnate, crucified, risen Christ. Paul's missionary calling was bringing the nations, both Jews and Gentiles, together as one people of God by preaching the gospel. The ultimate goal of Paul's missionary task was joining the Jews and the Gentiles in praise and worship of God. It is evident from this research that Paul's calling and commission were serving as a missionary to the nations. This calling was an integral part of God's redemptive plan, which was marked by the promise of blessing for the nations. Thus, Paul's worldwide mission underscores the Romans' purpose. - Jacket flap.

This book is novel in its questioning of the adequacy of interpreting Paul from the perspective of the Reformation and in its application of sociological methods to the New Testament.
