Educação popular e pensamento complexo na escola pública: os saberes docentes em reconstrução na EJA, tematiza um movimento real ocorrido na escola pública que foi provocado por ocasião da política educacional instaurada no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (1998-2002), o qual cria novas condições de possibilidade para pensar o sentido do conhecimento, do currículo e dos saberes e ações docentes na escola pública. O estudo enfoca, em um primeiro momento, possíveis interfaces e complementaridades entre o paradigma da Educação Popular (Paulo Freire), instituído pela política pública no período, e o paradigma da complexidade (de Edgar Morin), sinalizando as grandes questões tratadas na obra em relação à problemática dos saberes docentes na escola pública. A abordagem destaca, num segundo momento, alguns elementos de ordem "epistemológica" que orientaram a Política Pública de Educação no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (1998-2002), no qual se presentificaram os pressupostos do paradigma da Educação Popular, promovendo "novas condições de possibilidade" para a construção da EJA no contexto escolar, bem como para a reconstrução dos saberes e ações dos educadores. No terceiro momento, a obra ressalta, a partir dos "saberes práticos" dos educadores que atuaram na escola pública, objetivando reconstruir as ações educativas em EJA, a emergência de "questões" que permitem pensar os limites e possibilidades que surgiram decorrentes dessa proposta. O capítulo possibilita pensar a partir da experiência do educador e do conjunto dos educadores, o desafio de construir uma pedagogia situada, a qual assume uma feição dialética e existencial, abrindo para um diálogo "complexo" entre o universo das ciências, das artes e da filosofia, com o mundo vivido pelos educadores e educandos. Decorrem dessas circunstâncias, num quarto momento da pesquisa, elementos que permitem uma determinada aproximação com o referencial teórico proposto por Edgar Morin, principalmente em relação à possibilidade de pensar na formação continuada dos educadores, bem como da constituição da EJA na escola, tendo em vista a necessidade de um diálogo entre o "paradigma da complexidade" e a "educação popular".
