Peace Pilgrimage written by Paul Gessler and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-10-20 with Poetry categories.

This book is a collection of poems that span over thirty years. They are poems that have both immediacy and patience, charting the author's immersion in the spiritual-political search for inner and outer peace. It's a collection that chronicles the author's growth as a developing voice, reflecting a deep love and connection with the earth. It tells of the yearning for community and its struggles once it is found. These are poems which have nurtured the author over the span of his pilgrimage by means of providing sanctuary; as the walkers were provided sanctuary; taught with tenderness and sometimes harshness. Some poems are peace prayers; prophetic revelations for a hopeful tomorrow and tender reminisces of our bond with the Sacred earth. They are a collection of poems about a specific pilgrimage, yet with the hope of shared universality. They are the author's offering in the search for beauty, wonder and community in the world seldom being disappointed in that search.

This collection of essays presents the very latest research on the peace-building dimension of sacred and secular journeys at individual, societal, regional and global levels. Not since the 1980s has there been any concerted effort to explore the potential of such journeys in helping to bridge the divide that separates people of diverse ethnicities, religions and cultures. This volume gathers together empirical studies, regional analyses, and personal reflections from four continents and twelve countries, including Sri Lanka, Syria, Ethiopia, and Indonesia, which highlight the potential of religious tourism and pilgrimage for promoting interfaith solidarity, natural dialogue, and inner peace. It will be of interest to religion, tourism and peace scholars, as well as to political scientists and anthropologists.

This is a book about pilgrimage, peace building, and being here in the future. Sacred journeys are by far the most peaceful mass rituals that humankind has yet devised for itself. Can these journeys contribute to ending the poverty, racial inequality, and intractable conflict so common on the world stage today? In a radical rethinking of the nature and definition of pilgrimage, anthropologist Ian McIntosh describes this ancient practice as a handy tool in the peace-builder’s toolkit. In a range of case studies, he shows how pilgrimage provides geographically and historically separated peoples with a strong sense of their membership in a global community facing global challenges. The text includes autobiographical accounts of the author’s experience of pilgrimage in Aboriginal Australia, Communist China, multi-faith Sri Lanka, and the embattled Gaza Strip. There are also academic papers that advance the proposed link between pilgrimage and peace building from Canada, India, Kenya, Pakistan, Russia and elsewhere. The common thread in all these sacred journeys is a vision of peace, justice and sustainability. We are all in this together. For humankind to survive on this planet, pilgrimage, in all its rich diversity, will undoubtedly play a critical role.

2017, America was turning mean. Grammy-nominated songwriter/author Rand Bishop couldn't sit idly by. His plan of action, inspired by the woman called Peace Pilgrim, had friends and family questioning his sanity. At 67, on bad knees and arthritic feet, with scant camping experience and zero knowledge about long-distance hiking, Rand set out on a 900-mile trek, walking from Southern California to the Central Oregon Coast. A 90-day test of will and endurance comprises but a fraction of this life-changing adventure. The newfound hope gained by listening to and interacting with a thousand folks from all walks of life is the true heart of the story.

"Love and caring is the answer." Peace Pilgrim follows in the footsteps of the original Peace Pilgrim, a woman who, for twenty-eight years, walked across the United States advocating world peace. Like his predecessor, Peace II has given up all his possessions, including his name, and has vowed to travel the country until world peace is a reality. Peace has spoken to thousands of people--in schools, over the radio, and wherever he goes from coast to coast--encouraging the expression of peaceful principles within our lives. Enjoying the Journey brings us his message of how to live peacefully and also recounts his experiences while travelling throughout the United States. "If we learn how to love unconditionally, we will not only have peace in the world, but an inner peace as well."
