Pearls of Perspicacity more resembles a box of chocolates than it does a traditional business or career book. Each chapter delivers its unique tidbit of knowledge and insight in a manner best suited to the ideas presented. The chapters differ in length, tone, and depth, but all have one characteristic in common: They all present nuggets of insight to help you immediately achieve better performance and greater fulfillment in your life. Why "perspicacity" you ask? Why couldn't you just say "pearls of wisdom"? Or even something more straightforward like "good ideas"? The answer is simple. None of those words sufficiently describe the book's broad range of content and the true nature of the ideas presented. Take wisdom for example. Wisdom implies a soundness based on knowledge, experience, or understanding that leads to good judgment. Fair enough; the ideas in the book would pass this test. But the nature of these pearls extends beyond mere soundness. Perspicacity implies a special keenness or acuity applied to insight. It implies a cleverness, perceptiveness, or acuity that takes the basic notion of wisdom one step deeper. This deeper level internalization of certain truths will give you a noticeable advantage in your career.

From Versailles To Pearl Harbor written by Margaret Lamb and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-03-14 with History categories.

In 1941, the European war became a world war. This book tackles that process in its economic, political and ideological dimensions. Margaret Lamb and Nicholas Tarling explore the significance of the Asian factor and the importance of East Asia in the making of the war in Europe and the transformation of the European war of 1939 into the world war of 1941. This Asian factor has often been neglected, but the policies of all the major powers were affected by their world-wide interests. France had its possessions in North Africa and Asia; Nazi Germany chose to become involved in China and to make an agreement with Japan; Britain's action in Europe and the Mediterranean were conditioned by its commitments elsewhere in the world, and the United States and the Soviet Union were both involved in Europe and Asia. In particular the threat that Japan presented to the status quo in East Asia made it difficult for the war in Europe in turn affected the position in East Asia. The US built a two-ocean navy and encouraged the British to continue their struggle by keeping the resources of South East Asia available, and these steps led to a clash with the Japanese. Lamb and Tarling's global approach throws valuable new light on the origins of the Second World War.

A diamond gets its value by cutting away flaws in the search for perfection. A diamond has sharp edges, meant to be seen and envied, but not felt. Hard and solitary, it is formed through pressure. Too many of us were raised as diamonds, perfectly designed, cut, and judged by others. We are left trapped inside something too small for our spirits, too focused on what's wrong with us, ignoring what's best about us.Pearls over Perfect offers a better way of living. Built one crystal and one layer at a time, pearls are symbols of wisdom gained through our own experience. Smooth and round to the touch, their imperfections what makes them unique. Pearls are built by fulfilling the promise inside us, not chasing an image of perfection. Pearls over Perfect shares the power and process of your inner pearl."I wrote this book after listening to hundreds of women share their stories with me. The constant pressure to be perfect and the worry that undermined their happiness was wearing them down. They told me again and again that they'd done everything they were supposed to do, but their lives didn't feel the way they thought they would. Pearls over Perfect is my answer to them, a better way of living lives they like."
