Buku ini mengkaji tentang konstruksi pemikiran pendidikan karakter anak menurut al-Zarnuji dan John Locke. Penulis menyadari bahwa dalam proses penulisan buku dan riset banyak hal-hal penting yang dialami sehingga penulis banyak menemukan ilmu baru termasuk ilmu bagaimana mendidik anak dengan baik sebagai upaya penanaman benih untuk memetik buahnya kelak. Metode pendidikan karakter Syekh al-Zarnuji ditempuh dengan beberapa langkah yaitu memberi nasehat, saling mengingatkan, pembentukan mental melalui niat, wara’, istifaḍah, tawakal, dan teladan atau uswah. Sedangkan metode pendidikan karakter anak bagi John Locke terdiri atas tiga tahapan, pertama perkembangan tubuh yang sehat pada anak, seperti menghadapi cuaca, memilih pakaian, menjaga asupan makanan yang baik, mengatur pola tidur yang baik dan bagaimana cara mencegah penyakit. Kedua mengatur pikiran dan jiwa yang sehat pada anak, seperti memberikan rasa takut, memberikan kesetaraan dan memberikan kebebasan. Ketiga pembentukan karakter anak dengan mengulang-ulang kebia-saan yang baik, memberi contoh atau teladan yang baik, mem-berikan yang mereka inginkan selama keinginan itu baik dan membiarkan mereka belajar dengan cara mereka sendiri. Dari sini jelas bahwa pemikiran Zarnuji pada nilai karakter religius, relevan untuk diajarkan pada anak dimasa pandemi, dalam menghadapi musibah Covid 19 ini, kita harus selalu introspeksi, kemudian bertaubat terhadap kesalahan dan dosa yang sudah diperbuat, sehingga dapat ditanamkan dan diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Sedangkan relevansi pemikiran dari John Locke seperti tahapan pemben-tukan karakter anak yang diawali dengan perkembangan tubuh yang sehat, tentu relevan untuk selalu ditanamkan dan diimplemntasikan pada saat ini, karena pada masa pandemi ini kesehatan sangat di utamakan. Karena pada kondisi tubuh yang sehat, maka mudah dalam membentuk pikiran dan jiwa, sehingga karakter dapat dibentuk dengan baik. Metode pendi-dikan karakter anak kedua tokoh juga relevan dengan pendi-dikan karakter anak pada masa pandemi ini. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai acuan atau referensi bagi para pendidik yaitu guru dan orang tua dalam membentuk karakter yang baik bagi peserta didik serta mampu memberikan jawaban dan solusi tentang akhlak atau moral anak yang kurang baik.
