Bahasa Tanjong dan boria merupakan contoh ciri unggul warisan sosiobudaya Pulau Pinang selain masyarakat berbilang kaum dan berbagai budayanya. George Town khususnya dan Pulau Pinang secara amnya memperoleh sifat dan imej unik tersendiri yang menjadikannya berbeza daripada daerah kejiranannya yang lain di rantau utara Semenanjung Malaysia. Transformasi pondok sebagai institusi pendidikan agama islam diteliti daripada elemen tradisi sehinggalah aspek modenisasi. Pembangunan dan transformasi ekonomi dalam sektor industri barangan elektrik dan elektronik pula telah mengintegrasikan Pulau Pinang dengan rangkaian pengeluaran global lalu meletakkan Pulau Pinang dalam peta aktiviti pembuatan dunia. Kegiatan penanaman dan pengeluaran padi dalam ekonomi Kedah yang telah bermula sejak zaman pra-Islam masih menonjol sehingga kini sebagai rupa diri Kedah dan juga di keseluruhan rantau Wilayah Utara Semenanjung Malaysia.
