Penerbangan sesungguhnya adalah moda transportasi yang bersifat internasional mengingat sifat moda transportasinya yang mampu bergerak cepat dan menjangkau jarak yang jauh. Demi menjaga keselamatan dan keamanannya, dibuat peraturan yang mengikat dan berlaku internasional oleh suatu organisasi yang disetujui oleh semua otoritas penerbangan di masing-masing negara yaitu Organisasi Penerbangan Sipil Internasional (International Civil Aviation Organization/ICAO). Agar moda transportasi udara ini dapat berlangsung secara berkelanjutan, maka perlu juga dibuat aturan terkait bisnis. Pada tahun 2016, Indonesia akhirnya menjadi salah satu negara peserta dari Konvensi Montreal 1999 melalui Peraturan Presiden Nomor 95 Tahun 2016. Pengantar Hukum Penerbangan Privat Buku ini, memberikan banyak sekali sumbangsih pemikiran utamanya terkait dengan interpretasi Konvensi Montreal 1999 dan dampak pemberlakuannya secara nasional. Buku ini juga dilengkapi dengan contoh kasus dan Konvensi Montreal 1999 dalam versi bahasa Indonesia sehingga memudahkan pembaca untuk memahami ketentuannya. Harapan dari penulis, buku ini akan menjadi acuan bagi pemerintah Indonesia yang saat ini hendak menyusun amendemen Undang-Undang Penerbangan dengan menyesuaikan ketentuan internasional yang telah diratifikasi. Yang sudah banyak ditulis oleh para ahli hukum terutama ahli Hukum Udara (yang jumlahnya masih sangat sedikit) adalah topik-topik yang bersifat monographic, seperti misalnya tentang kedaulatan negara di ruang udara, transportasi udara, tanggung jawab pengangkut udara, prinsip tanggung jawab mutlak dalam pengangkutan udara, lembaga jaminan kebendaan pesawat udara, air power, asuransi penerbangan, komentar atas berbagai konvensi di bidang Hukum Udara, dan sebagainya, yang kesemuanya itu merupakan bagian-bagian dari Hukum Udara yang dibahas lebih mendalam dan lebih luas lagi. Berdasarkan kenyataan dan keperluan tersebut, atas desakan beberapa pihak, penulis mencoba menulis buku ini dengan harapan dapat membantu, terutama para mahasiswa dan masyarakat umum yang berminat terhadap bidang Hukum Udara dan dunia penerbangan pada khususnya, yang merupakan bidang hukum yang relatif muda, terutama di Indonesia.
