Covid-19 Belum Berlalu, JBMB Harus Terus Berkembang Pembaca yang terhormat, Jurnal Bali Membangun Bali Volume 1 Nomor 2, Agustus 2020 adalah edisi yang spesial dalam pengertian tertentu. Dikatakan demikian karena sejak terbitnya edisi perdana (JBMB Volume 1 Nomor 1, April 2020) praktis situasi semua bidang kehidupan menjadi berubah dan cenderung penuh pertanyaan dengan adanya pandemi Covid-19 (Corona) setidaknya sejak pertengahan Maret, bahkan tidak saja di Provinsi Bali. Nyatanya Bali benar-benar menghadapi masalah yang luar biasa besar karena penyokong utama kehidupan masyarakat masa kini, yakni pariwisata, hampir lumpuh dengan tiadanya kedatangan wisatawan. Dari latar di atas, pantas JBMB yang telah berhasil memeroleh ISSN, baik online maupun cetak, mengedepankan pewacanaan persoalan Covid-19 pada edisi kali ini. Kebetulan jurnal kebanggaan Badan Riset dan Inovasi Daerah Provinsi Bali ini sudah mulai diminati pasar dan calon pasarnya. Buktinya cukup banyak artikel yang masuk untuk nomor kali ini. Urolithiasis is not only one of the most frequently encountered diseases at uro logical clinics; it is also the disorder whose treatment has shown the most rapid progress in the past decade. In that period, medicine has experienced a real revolution, characterized by minimally invasive treatments, improvement of the quality of life, and cost-effectiveness in treatment outcomes. In urology, the revolution started with the development of endoscopic retrograde treatment of urolithiasis in the upper urinary tract, which led to development of the percuta neous antegrade maneuver in the latter half of the 1970s. The most remarkable event occurred in 1982, when clinical use of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy was introduced by the Munich group, represented by Dr. Christian Chaussy, at the 18th Congress of the International Society of Urology in San Francisco. With the advent of these new strategies, open surgery for urolithiasis has all but dis appeared. Today, with the availability of new technology and equipment, guide lines for the treatment of urolithiasis have changed in all developed countries. It is quite timely that the Meeting of International Consultation on Urolithiasis will be held in Paris in June 2001 to establish international guidelines for urolithiasis. Looking through this textbook for urolithiasis, I was greatly impressed to learn that we have already drawn up some guidelines. The book includes all the updated advances of urolithiasis presented by the most prominent and experi enced urologists from all around the world.

Healers on the Colonial Market is one of the few studies on the Dutch East Indies from a postcolonial perspective. It provides an enthralling addition to research on both the history of the Dutch East Indies and the history of colonial medicine. This book will be of interest to historians, historians of science and medicine, and anthropologists. How successful were the two medical training programmes established in Jakarta by the colonial government in 1851? One was a medical school for Javanese boys, and the other a school for midwives for Javanese girls, and the graduates were supposed to replace native healers, the dukun. However, the indigenous population was not prepared to use the services of these doctors and midwives. Native doctors did in fact prove useful as vaccinators and assistant doctors, but the school for midwives was closed in 1875. Even though there were many horror stories of mistakes made during dukun-assisted deliveries, the school was not reopened, and instead a handful of girls received practical training from European physicians. Under the Ethical Policy there was more attention for the welfare of the indigenous population and the need for doctors increased. More native boys received medical training and went to work as general practitioners. Nevertheless, not everybody accepted these native doctors as the colleagues of European physicians.
