Buku ini sebenarnya kumpulan tulisan yang sudah penulis susun beberapa tahun lalu. Beberapa tulisan di dalam buku ini pernah diterbitkan di web blog pribadi (khususnya di kompasiana.com, pssdi.blogspot.com, dan wajirannet.blogspot.com). Pada waktu penulisan artikel-artikel tersebut, penulis belum mengenal sistem penyimpanan online seperti Dropbox dan Google Drive. Di samping itu, penerbitan di website juga ditujukan agar tulisan-tulisan tersebut dapat diakses oleh mahasiswa. Buku ini diterbitkan menanggapi beberapa pertanyaan mahasiswa terkait sulitnya mencari buku rujukan khususnya terkait makna, fungsi, dan peranan karya sastra yang lengkap dan dalam bahasa Indonesia. Buku tentang pengenalan karya sastra yang membicarakan sastra Indonesia juga sastra dunia (khususnya sastra Inggris dan sastra Amerika) memang masih tergolong langka. Buku-buku terkait sastra umumnya adalah kumpulan teori atau hasil penelitian yang cenderung sulit dipahami oleh mahasiswa semester awal. Di samping itu, buku-buku terkait pengantar sastra umumnya berbahasa Inggris atau buku terjemahan. Buku pengantar karya sastra yang telah ada jarang membahas isu-isu kontekstual terkait karya sastra dan agama (khususnya Islam), karya sastra dan kekuasaan, karya sastra dan mitos, dan isu-isu kontekstual lainya. Dalam mengajar sehari-hari, penulis menemukan masih banyak mahasiswa yang kebingungan membedakan pengertian sastra dan manfaat mempelajari atau membaca karya sastra. Itu sebabnya, buku ini membahas secara lengkap berbagai persoalan yang berkembang khususnya terkait hubungan antara karya sastra dan masyarakat serta karya sastra dan ideologi atau agama, juga persoalan pengajaran dan resepsi karya sastra di Indonesia. Bagian yang lebih menarik lagi dari buku ini adalah contoh yang diberikan bukan hanya karya sastra dalam Bahasa Indonesia, tetapi juga contoh karya sastra dari berbagai belahan dunia, khususnya Amerika dan Inggris. Penulis berharap keberadaan buku ini dapat menjadi alternatif ba gi para mahasiswa, baik di jurusan Sastra Inggris maupun Sastra Indonesia. Mudah-mudahan karya yang masih jauh dari kata sempurna ini mampu memberikan sumbangan pemikiran atas minimnya referensi buku pengantar pengkajian sastra, khususnya sastra Inggris, di Indonesia.

This proceeding contains selected papers of The International Seminar On Recent Language, Literature, And Local Culture Studies “Kajian Mutakhir Bahasa, Sastra, Dan Budaya Daerah (BASA)” held on 20-21 September 2019 in Solo, Indonesia. The conference which was organized by Sastra Daerah, Faculty of Cultural Sciences Universitas Sebelas Maret and Culture Studies Postgraduate Program of Universitas Sebelas Maret. The conference accommodates topics for linguistics in general including issues in language, literature, local cultural studies, philology, folklore, oral literature, history, art, education, etc. Selecting and reviewing process for the The International Seminar On Recent Language, Literature, And Local Culture Studies “Kajian Mutakhir Bahasa, Sastra, dan Budaya Daerah” was very challenging in that it needs a goodwill of those who were involved in such a process. More than ten experts were invited in reviewing, giving suggestions for revision and at last selecting the papers. On that account, we would like to forward our appreciation and our gratefulness to such invited experts for having done the process. The committee received more than 180 papers from the participants and based on the results of the review, only 141 papers were declared fit to be presented at the seminar and subsequently published in the proceedings of BASA#3-2019 Papers in the proceeding are expected to give academic benefits, especially in broadening the horizon of our understanding in language, literature, and local culture studies. We realize that what we are presenting for the publication is till far for being perfect. Constructive criticism is very much welcome for improvement. Finally, the committees thank for the participation and congratulate for the publication of the papers in the proceedings of BASA#3-2019. The committees also thank all those who have supported and actively participated for the success of this event. Hopefully these Proceedings can be used as references in developing technology and improving learning activities in the fields of education, social, arts and humanities.

This is an open access book. The Unima International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanity (UNICSSH) 2022 was conducted on October, 11th – 13th 2022, at The Grand Kawanua International City, Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. In 2022, Universitas Negeri Manado will host the Indonesian National Education Convention (KONASPI) X. Konaspi is a routine activity of the PPTKN which is held once every four years. The fourth industrial revolution (4.0) is marked by technological advances and supported by artificial intelligence that creates opportunities and challenges for the education system. Scholars, researchers, and practitioners are invited to share ideas, research results, and best practices about education, science, and technology now and in the future at an international conference held by Universitas Negeri Manado as part of the Indonesian National Education Convention (KONASPI). As part of KONASPI X activities, Universitas Negeri Manado is holding the 2022 International Conference on Education, Social Science, and Humanities (ICESSHum). The topics in this international conference are Education, Law, Politics and Social Sciences, Economics, Public Administration, and Humanities. Seperti yang coba diung-kapkan oleh buku ini, sebenarnya tidak ada ‘teori fiksi, dalam artian yang sebangun pada suatu teori teori tertentu atau kecenderungan yang muncul dari “tokoh, ahli, teori, paham tertentu” atau terapan pada fiksi apapun juga. Tidak satu pun dari bab per bab yang disebutkan dalam buku ini, mulai dari bagian pertama Bab I – III memuat pengantar, pendekatan, dan kajian fiksi; bagian kedua Bab IV – VIII berisi struktur intrinsik : tema, alur, tokoh, latar, sudut pandang, stilistika (untuk subbab ini dibahas pada buku yang berbeda); hingga bagian ketiga buku ini atau yang terakhir Bab IX berisi unsur ekstrinsik fiksi yang terbatas pada Nilai Pendidikan (religius, moral, budaya); yang benar-benar berurusan dengan tulisan ‘teori fiksi’ saja. Buku ini dicoba disusun dengan menggunakan bahasa yang lugas, pengertian dan sintesis dari teori-teori yang “terbaca dan terjangkau”, disertai contoh aplikatif dari beberapa karya yang barangkali fenomenal dan penting pada masanya. Kata yang tercetak dari teori untuk menjadi jenis bahasa ‘biasa’ yang selalu tersedia secara alamiah bagi semua orang, pun merupakan teori fiksi tertentu. Sepa-tutnya dipahami, teori apresiasi fiksi terbentuk lebih oleh impuls demokratis (bebas, manasuka-arbitrer) ketimbang elitis,sangkil.
