Buku ini merupakan pengembangan refleksif atas pokok-pokok Syahadat Singkat yang diucapkan setiap hari Minggu dalam Perayaan Ekaristi. Dengan paparan yang lugas, materi ini dapat dipakai sebagai: pengantar untuk memahami arti iman, beriman, dan wahyu Allah; pengantar untuk mulai mendalami pokok-pokok iman kristiani; bahan persiapan memasuki secara lebih mendalam misteri-misteri kristiani dan pendampingan mistagogi pasca-baptis. Kerangka yang digunakan dalam paparan ini adalah kerangka trinitaris, yang melekat pada rumusan syahadat itu sendiri, yaitu memahami misteri Allah dalam karya penyelamatan-Nya: Bapa yang mewahyukan Diri dalam Putra-Nya dan dalam Roh Kudus. Untuk menyiapkan pembaca memasuki secara lebih mendalam misteri-misteri kristiani dan pendampingan mistagogi pasca-baptis, sebaiknya masih ditambahkan lagi bahan-bahan lain seputar kristologi, eklesiologi, sakramentologi, mariologi, dan eskatologi. Semoga dengan membaca buku ini para pembina iman, pendamping calon baptis dan baptisan baru, katekis dan guru agama, terdorong untuk berpikir dan berefleksi lebih dalam mengenai pokok-pokok yang biasa mereka sampaikan dalam pendampingan iman. Buku ini dapat dipakai sebagai pengantar untuk berteologi. Carolus Putranto, S.J., memperoleh gelar Sarjana Pendidikan dari IKIP Sanata Dharma tahun 1979 dalam bidang filsafat dan teologi; melanjutkan studi S2 dan S3 di Fakultas Teologi Universitas Kepausan Gregoriana, Roma, Italia, hingga selesai pada tahun 1985. Sejak tahun 1986 menjadi pengajar ilmu teologi di Sekolah Tinggi Filsafat Kateketik Pradnyawidya (sekarang PAK – Universitas Sanata Dharma) sampai purnakarya pada 2016. Selain dimuat dalam majalah Umat Baru terbitan Pusat Kateketik Yogyakarta, tulisan-tulisannya juga pernah mengisi jurnal spiritualitas Ignasian Ignis (India), East Asian Pastoral Review (Filippina), dan Diskursus (Jakarta/STF Driyarkara). Buku yang diterbitkan sebelum ini berjudul Dihimpun untuk Diutus: Pengantar Singkat Eklesiologi, Yogyakarta: Kanisius, 2019.
