Why do some people see the world in one way while others see it from a totally opposite perspective? Were does the perceptual framework of finding two sides to every issue originate? What impact do conflicting opinions have on our social institutions and what result will the application of binary worldviews have on civilization? The answers to these questions are important because our deeply seated differences come into play regarding a myriad of highly important issues that impact everyone. Understanding the sociopolitical psychology behind worldview development is fundamental because the assumptions and decisions that are applied to society as a result of blind perceptions have long lasting and significant ramifications. History is full of examples of great civilizations that have come and gone because the humans that enjoyed their fruits and were entrusted to their survival were unaware of their fragility. One of the primary reasons for the collapse of great societies has been the influence of blind perceptions that were applied to the maintenance of civilization.

By revealing underlying assumptions that influence the field of psychology, The Hidden Worldviews of Psychology’s Theory, Research, and Practice challenges psychologists to reconsider the origins of ideas they may take as psychological truths. Worldviews, or the systems of assumptions that provide a framework for psychological thinking, have great influence on psychological theory, research, and practice. This book attempts to correct assumptions by describing the worldviews that have shaped psychological theory, practice, and research and demonstrating how taking worldviews into account can greatly advance psychology as a whole.

World Views And Perceiving God written by Joseph Runzo and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994-01-12 with Philosophy categories.

This collection of essays presents a systematic analysis of some of the foremost issues in the philosophy of religion. The focus is on the epistemology of religion, the most significant area of recent interest in the field. After developing a religious epistemology in the first half of the book, that epistemology is both further expanded, and explicitly applied to salient issues in the contemporary discussion. The central question throughout the essays is how our world-views affect our perception, especially our perception of God. The first essays set out a general epistemology of perception. The next two sets of essays build upon this in assessing the cognitive value of religious experience, and analyzing the proper epistemic foundations for belief in God. Then, in view of the role of faith developed in those essays, the final essays address the dual challenges to traditional theism of theological non-realism and of religious pluralism.

Worldviews Ethics And Organizational Life written by Michel Dion and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-24 with Business & Economics categories.

This book provides an innovative way to revisit the depth and scope of our moral/post-moral worldviews, while undertaking an ontic reflection about organizational life. The ontic dimension of life refers to existing entities’ lived experiences. It has nothing to do with psychological and relational processes. The ontic level of analysis mirrors a philosophical outlook on organizational life. Unlike moral worldviews, post-moral worldviews oppose the existence of Truth-itself. Post-moral worldviews rather imply that dialogical relationships allow people to express their own truth-claims and welcome others’ truth-claims. The purpose of this book is to explain the philosophical implications of moral and post-moral worldviews and the way to move from a moral to a post-moral worldview. Moreover, this book explores the possibility to transcend the moral/post-moral dualism, through moral deliberation processes and a reinterpretation of the Presence of the Infinite in all dimensions of human life. This book could eventually help to better grasp the basic philosophical challenges behind ethical reflection about organizational issues.

Exploring Earthiness written by Anne Primavesi and has been published by Lutterworth Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-08-28 with Nature categories.

If we see ourselves as Earth, rather than Earth as existing for us, our perspective is transformed. A variety of religious, philosophical, cultural, and political self-perceptions that dominate our sense of human identity are deeply challenged by this shift in perspective. John Locke's doctrine of Earth as human 'property' has been central to current presuppositions about our selves: justified on the grounds of our possessing unique, divinely bestowed, rational abilities. But today, the effectsof that doctrine on Earth's resource base and on its other-than-human creatures directly challenge such assumptions. At the same time contemporary scientific findings about the evolution of Earthly life demonstrate that while we belong to Earth and nowhere else, Earth does not belong to us. Exploring this role reversal raises fundamental questions about current theological, philosophical, scientific, and economic presuppositions that underpin the 'business as usual' viewpoint and human-centeredaims of contemporary policies and lifestyles. It takes us beyond hierarchical Christian and philosophical doctrines toward a deeper, Earth-focused and peace-based understanding of what it means to be human today.
