Queste linee-guida sul “buon vivere” tracciano per la sottoscritta un importante giro di boa che attraversa il caos interiore e, in ultima istanza, afferra quel coraggio che mi mancava. Il messaggio racchiuso in questo libro si esprime nei ricordi, nei flash repentini e insoliti che riaffiorano dall’oblio per coincidenze strane, nei contenuti che sono riuscita ad “immortalare” per conferire ad essi un’impronta eterna, negli estratti poetici che ho cercato appositamente per fissarne l’autenticità e il significato… nei pensieri personali che ho sviluppato con l’esperienza o semplicemente vivendo l’oggi… senza paranoie o turbamenti particolari. Ho serbato ogni indizio, ogni frammento mnemonico, ogni reperto storico per comprendere le mie attitudini e altre priorità imprescindibili, come la libertà di azione, di pensiero e di espressione, il rispetto e la pace interiore. Ho raggruppato tutte le tracce, i segmenti interiori più interessanti, i pensieri che suscitano emozione e, infine i significati estrapolati da argomenti di benessere psico-fisico che sono, tutt’ora, i riferimenti indissolubili della mia identità.

"Il gioco delle perle di vetro: Un tentativo di biografia del Magister Ludi Josef Knecht, compresi gli scritti di Knecht", è l'ultimo e più ampio romanzo di Hermann Hesse, pubblicato per la prima volta in due volumi nel 1943. È di gran lunga il suo romanzo più lungo. A volte viene tradotto in inglese come "Magister Ludi" o semplicemente "Il gioco delle perle di vetro" (in tedesco "Glasperlenspiel"). È l'opus magnum e l'ultimo trattato filosofico di Hesse e offre l'esplorazione delle sue riflessioni filosofiche e delle sue preoccupazioni esistenziali. Un punto focale nella comprensione di questa narrazione è il discernimento dei ruoli dei personaggi Pater Jakobus e Tegularius che, come suggerito, rappresentano dei travestimenti trasparenti per i famosi pensatori Jacob Burckhardt e Friedrich Nietzsche. Il centro della narrazione futuristica, Josef Knecht, intraprende un viaggio alla scoperta di sé e della propria crescita intellettuale, tema centrale di tutte le opere di Hesse. L'affermazione del narratore che Tegularius ha avuto un ruolo fondamentale nella vita di Knecht, così come Designori e Pater a Marienfels, fornisce ai lettori un'idea delle due forze principali che plasmano la visione del mondo di Knecht. Queste forze rappresentano le prospettive contrastanti di Burckhardt e Nietzsche, che agli occhi di Hesse furono fondamentali per la formazione dei suoi orientamenti filosofici. Pater Jakobus incarna la prospettiva storica e misurata che ricorda l'approccio di Burckhardt, mentre Tegularius, con la sua sfrenata brillantezza e la sua natura imprevedibile, rispecchia l'approccio filosofico radicale di Nietzsche.
