Through humorous stories and raw honesty, Joy Eggerichs compares relationships to a dizzying spell of vertigo--offering relational and biblical truths, and giving voice to the disillusionment that stems from relational wounds. Whether single, married, or navigating that bizarre ritual known as "dating," we all face moments that leave us reeling, even doubting God's goodness. It's called relational vertigo--and this book is Joy's hilarious, honest search for the cure. Joy's charming first-person stories of her journey of faith, family, and dating read like hanging out with a close friend. Leaning into the pain--and humor--of her past relationships, Joy shows us that we aren't alone ... and how we can move toward God when relational vertigo strikes.

A holistic, positive, empowering approach to recovery. ABOUT THE MENIERE MAN SERIES When the Author was diagnosed with Meniere's, his ENT specialist handed him an A4 leaflet and told him to keep away from stress and to not eat salt. That was it! There were no books on the subject in bookstores or libraries. The internet was in its infancy - you couldn't even send an email. He had no choice, but to take recovery into his own hands. Armed with hope, determination and a positive attitude, he recorded daily accounts of what worked and didn't work, until he amassed five years of handwritten diaries, daily journals and notebooks. Once he recovered health, he was determined to ensure no one else should find themselves diagnosed with an "incurable illness" and with no consistent, insightful information. Using only his personal experience of battling Meniere symptoms and making a recovery, he decided to write a series of coherent books to cover every aspect of this multifaceted condition from his point of view. Since publishing the first self-help memoir and a complete series of self-help books, during the past seven years, the Author's experiences and personal insights; his coherent and consistent information, helps make the world for Meniere's sufferers, a less frightening place than it once was. Vertigo, dizziness, and imbalance rank amongst the most common presenting symptoms in neurology, ENT, geriatric medicine, and general practice. These symptoms can originate from many different organs and systems, such as the inner ear, general medical conditions, neurological and psychological disorders. The Oxford Textbook of Vertigo and Imbalance provides an up-to-date summary of the scientific basis, clinical diagnosis, and management of disorders leading to dizziness and poor balance. This textbook is conceptually divided into three sections, detailing the scientific basis, general clinical issues, and specific diseases diagnosed in clinical practice that are responsible for complaints of dizziness and imbalance. Individual chapters address benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, vestibular migraine, vestibular neuritis, stroke, and Ménière's disease. Additional chapters follow a syndrome-based approach and cover multiple conditions, including cerebellar disorders, bilateral vestibular failure and gait, and psychological disorders. The print edition is complemented by an online version, which allows access to the full content of the textbook, contains links from the references to primary research journal articles, allows full text searches, and provides access to figures and tables that can be downloaded to PowerPoint. It serves a useful clinical reference for neurologists, otorhinolaryngologists, audio-vestibular physicians, and senior trainees in those specialties.

Vertigo corresponds to a disturbance of perception and is associated with disruption of gaze stabilization, of posture control and of the autonomic nervous system. As a loss of orientation in space, it is mostly characterized by neurovegetative signs and unpleasant feelings as nausea, sweating, blood pressure swings, anxiety, dysequilibrium of the sensory systems of reference: eye, balance, and somatosensory perception in the space of reference. It is typically worsened when the head is moved. The most common diseases that result in vertigo are benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, Ménière's disease, and labyrinthitis. Less common causes include stroke, brain tumors, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, and migraine.

Vertigo or vestibular disorders have become a common handicap across the globe, which poses a great burden on health care resources. Vertigo is not a disease entity per se, but rather a leading symptom of many etiologically different diseases. These conditions include dysfunction of the vestibular system, both peripheral (inner ear, vestibular nerve) and central (brainstem, cerebellum), functional dizziness, and diseases of other causes, including blood pressure regulation disorders, such as orthostatic dizziness, and adverse drug reactions. Previous studies demonstrated that vestibular disorders might be a modifiable condition and a possible target for secondary prevention of cognitive impairment due to aging, dementia, social isolation, late-life depression, frailty, and increased risk of mortality.
