Dr. Rafie Hamidpour has taught at the college level, compiled twelve books, sixty publications, and has received nine certificates of registration from the Library of Congress. He also holds several patent registrations in the U.S. and Canada. But the greatest of all his accomplishments are the relationships with his family and friends. Introduction. For the greater part of the Qajar era (1796-1924) Persia was the scene of intense rivalry between the Russian and British empires. Concerned about Russian expansion southward and securing India from encroachments via Persia, the British wanted to ensure their hegemony in Persia while the Russians were relentless in countering British efforts. Greater Russian and British influence was facilitated by the weakness of the Qajar state, but at the same time, the rivalry between the two powers enabled Persia to maintain a fragile and nominal independence. During the second half of the nineteenth century, the British built a telegraph line across Persia to link London with India; they increased their trading and banking activities and concerns, and sought to acquire lucrative concessions. In 1889 the British owned Imperial Bank of Persia was founded in 1901 the Persian government granted the British subject William Knox D'Arcy (q.v.) a sixty-year concession involving exclusive and comprehensive rights to Persian oil in the whole of the country except for five northern provinces adjacent to the Russian borders.

Tales of earthly and spiritual love were recounted and reinterpreted by Persian poets from the 11th century onwards. Dr. Rafie Hamidpour was born in the mountainous region located between Baghdad and the Sea of Caviar, known as the Persian Plateau. This historical terrain extends for over 1,200 miles, encompassing the greater part of Iran and significant portions of Tajikistan, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Equally as extensive is Dr. Hamidpour's family history. He is a descendant of the Do-Lang family, whose history dates back over four hundred years. Dr. Hamidpour's journey to the west began late in 1986 and was comprised of stopovers in Turkey, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Germany. In 1987, the voyage ended with a final destination in the American Midwest. For Dr. Hamidpour, writing has been one of several interests in life as he has also taught at the college level, compiled ten books, and on several occasions has received certificates of registration from the Library of Congress. He also received several patent registrations in Canada and the United States of America. The greatest of all his accomplishments are the relationships with his family and friends. For the past twenty-six years, he has lived in the United States of America. The questions about other countries that Americans have has inspired him to assemble a series of four books.
