PERSON-CENTRED CARE IN RADIOGRAPHY A helpful guide to patient and person-centered care in radiography, with a particular focus on interpersonal and communication skills Person-centred Care in Radiography: Skills for Providing Effective Patient Care explores the complex interpersonal skills that are required of practitioners and medical imaging professionals which ensure high-quality service is given to person-centred care in radiography. The textbook is also written by a team of expert authors, and grounded in the team’s own research, as well as their involvement with the Heads of Radiography Group, the Association of Radiography Educators, the Collaborating Centre for Values-based Practice in Health and Social Care, and the College of Radiographers. The textbook contains a broad range of additional learning features, including case studies, student exercises, annotated further readings, and chapter summaries. Diagrams and illustrations are used throughout the book to provide visual representation of the concepts presented. Learning activities are also included throughout the book to encourage readers to self-discover and reflect and then apply their learning to their own role. Person-centred Care in Radiography includes detailed information on and discussion of: Values, developing resilience, defining compassion, pain and suffering, and professional behaviors and culture Scenarios developed by service users based on real-life practice, to demonstrate the impact of the professional’s behavior on the care received Diversity of service users, the role of carers, conceptual frameworks, interpersonal communication skills and communicating with patients beyond introductions Values-based practice, compassionate practice, theoretical models for patient-centered care in radiography and reflections to help readers move forward Targeted at all staff working within diagnostic and therapeutic radiography clinical departments and educational institutions, Person-centred Care in Radiography, can be used in both radiography education by students and educators and by qualified staff who wish to reflect on their own patient care and develop their skills.

Person Centred Care In Radiology written by Shayne Chau and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-04-09 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This edited book focuses on the application of patient care within the three specialisms: diagnostic radiography (including fluoroscopy, computed tomography, breast imaging, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging), radiotherapy and oncology, and nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. Person-Centred Care in Radiology: International Perspectives on High-Quality Care draws from recent publications and clinical expertise, supported with this trend of technological advances and how they are supposed to enhance patient care. The chapters seek to uncover the role and behavior of radiographers. This will be supported with chapters on a key aspect, which will impact both radiographers and patients, vis-à-vis advancing technology. These chapters include topics such as artificial intelligence, image acquisition, coincided with topics surrounding ethics. The edited volume includes contributions from the United States, Canada, the UK and Australasia to bring together for the first time those at the forefront of this growing field in medical imaging. This book may be used to influence policymaking decisions and thus influence how healthcare delivery is offered in an ever-evolving imaging environment. In short, this text bridges the gap between what is advocated in the literature, with experience, as observed in practice. The targeted audience for this book is multifaceted. It will primarily be a book that facilitates undergraduate radiography students worldwide. It will offer a useful tool for academics delivering undergraduate (pre-registration) radiography programs. This book will act as a ‘primer’ for undergraduate students, but importantly ‘signpost’ to other key texts within the field. Further, academics will find this text useful as it aims to enrich scholarly learning, teaching and assessment to healthcare programs nationally and internationally.

Patient Centered Care In Medical Imaging And Radiotherapy written by Aarthi Ramlaul and has been published by Elsevier Health Sciences this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-26 with Medical categories.

Health investigation and treatment have moved from a clinician-centred approach to a patient-centred approach during the past few decades. Patients are now rightly regarded as empowered and informed users of health services, not passive recipients. Motivated by this philosophical shift, this new book identifies the key issues underpinning the complete delivery of ‘good’ patient care and considers their application in the medical radiation sciences. Taking a UK/European perspective, the authors examine how a holistic approach is related to legislation, human rights and perceived patient needs. Medical imaging and radiotherapy are front line services experienced by vast numbers of patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, including trauma and cancer. The book includes coverage of behavioural science and health psychology together with practical applications such as safe manual handling, infection control and radiation safety. This provides the reader with a comprehensive understanding of what contributes to the patient’s experience in diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy. It also considers other aspects of the patient experience, such as inter-professional team working, disability, communication, clinical procedures and practice.

Those following the profession of radiographer mainly work in the healthcare sector, with image production in medical imaging or with radiotherapy treatments. Radiographers are responsible for patient care and handling technology in this profession al field. Radiographers’ practice is interesting to study in relation to technical developments and changing conditions for performing professional work. The general aim of this thesis was to empirically explore the main features of radiographers’ work, how advances in tech n ology affect radiographers’ practice, interconnections with other practices and students learn in g in practice on the way to becoming professionals. Methods: Data was collected using interviews and observations (Papers I, II & IV). For Paper III, individual interviews were conducted. Data was analysed using a phenomenological interpretative method (Paper I) and practice theory perspective (Papers II–IV). Findings: Radiographers’ professional work with image production was seen as a process comprising three phases: planning the examination, producing the images, and evaluating the images. During this process, radiographers make judgements to ensure patient safety and adapt the technology in use to the individual patient. When conventional imaging techniques are converted into examinations performed by Computer Tomography, the planning phase of radiographers’ work process becomes more important. Technology improvements also mean that the technical aspects of radiographers’ work with image production are easier to foresee in scheduling examinations. The caring aspects however are difficult to plan for because of little information about the patient before the examination. The professional practices involved in medical imaging interconnect to ensure patient safety through materiality and common tasks and/ or projects. The content and quality of two artefacts, the referral and the image, in these interconnections are important in collaborative work to ensure patient safety within medical imaging. Radiography students learn professional knowing in practice i.e. practice-as-work, practice-as language and practice-as-morality, during their clinical placements through alternating between two modes of participation: either observing and listening or acting by themselves. The students developed knowing in practice if the other practitioners allowed them to alternate between these two modes of participation. Implications: The description of radiographers’ general tasks an d responsibilities in a work process can be used for both educational and professionalization purposes. The identified interconnections between involved professions are useful for quality improvement to secure patient safety. The findings about development of knowing in practice can be used in the planning and evaluation of clinical placements for students.
