L'opera offre una innovativa visuale delle norme che si occupano del fenomeno della prostituzione, dando conto della loro applicazione pratica e della complessiva evoluzione giurisprudenziale e dottrinale. Si è esaminata la disciplina concernente le misure di sicurezza e le misure di prevenzione applicabili agli autori dei reati in materia di prostituzione oltre che le questioni connesse al rilascio del permesso di soggiorno e alle forme di protezione per le persone che si prostituiscono. Unitamente ai reati in materia di prostituzione previsti dalla legge Merlin e alle aggravanti contenute in diverse altre leggi speciali, si sono valutate anche altre fattispecie che vi sono connesse, come quella di sfruttamento dell'immigrazione irregolare, tratta di persone, turismo sessuale, riduzione in schiavitù. Un capitolo autonomo è stato dedicato alle norme di contrasto alla prostituzione minorile, proprio per le peculiarità che le caratterizzano. Infine, è stata esaminata la problematica del rilievo che assume l'accordo tra la persona che si prostituisce e il cliente e delle conseguenze giuridiche dell'omesso pagamento di questi in una chiave costituzionalmente e convenzionalmente orientata sino ad oggi trascurata dalla dottrina e dalla giurisprudenza.

The panorama of bioethical problems is different today. Patients travel to Thailand for fast surgery; commercial surrogate mothers in India deliver babies to parents in rich countries; organs, body parts and tissues are trafficked from East to Western Europe; physicians and nurses migrating from Africa to the U.S; thousands of children or patients with malaria, tuberculosis and AIDS are dying each day because they cannot afford effective drugs that are too expensive. Mainstream bioethics as it has developed during the last 50 years in Western countries is evolving into a broader approach that is relevant for people across the world and is focused on new global problems. This book provides an introduction into the new field of global bioethics. Addressing these problems requires a broader vision of bioethics that not only goes beyond the current emphasis on individual autonomy, but that criticizes the social, economic and political context that is producing the problems at global level. This book argues that global bioethics is a necessity because the social, economic and environmental effects of globalization require critical responses. Global bioethics is not a finished product that can simply be applied to solve global problems, but it is the ongoing result of interaction and exchange between local practices and global discourse. It combines recognition of differences and respect for cultural diversity with convergence towards common perspectives and shared values. The book examines the nature of global problems as well as the type of responses that are needed, in order to exemplify the substance of global bioethics. This book reveals how school memories offer not only a tool for accessing the school of the past, but also a key to understanding what people today know (or think they know) about the school of the past. It describes, in fact, how historians’ work does not purely and simply consist in exploring school as it really was, but also in the complex process of defining the memory of school as one developed and revisited over time at both the individual and collective level. Further, it investigates the extent to which what people “know” reflects the reality or is in fact a product of stereotypes that are deeply rooted in common perceptions and thus exceedingly difficult to do away with.
