Volume I contains a long article by Misha Gromov based on his many years of involvement in this subject. It came from lectures delivered in Spring 2019 at IHES. There is some background given. Many topics in the field are presented, and many open problems are discussed. One intriguing point here is the crucial role played by two seemingly unrelated analytic means: index theory of Dirac operators and geometric measure theory.Very recently there have been some real breakthroughs in the field. Volume I has several survey articles written by people who were responsible for these results. For Volume II, many people in areas of mathematics and physics, whose work is somehow related to scalar curvature, were asked to write about this in any way they pleased. This gives rise to a wonderful collection of articles, some with very broad and historical views, others which discussed specific fascinating subjects. These two books give a rich and powerful view of one of geometry's very appealing sides.

A Perspective On Canonical Riemannian Metrics written by Giovanni Catino and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-23 with Mathematics categories.
This book focuses on a selection of special topics, with emphasis on past and present research of the authors on “canonical” Riemannian metrics on smooth manifolds. On the backdrop of the fundamental contributions given by many experts in the field, the volume offers a self-contained view of the wide class of “Curvature Conditions” and “Critical Metrics” of suitable Riemannian functionals. The authors describe the classical examples and the relevant generalizations. This monograph is the winner of the 2020 Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Prize, a prestigious award for books of expository nature presenting the latest developments in an active area of research in mathematics.

Lectures On Optimal Transport written by Luigi Ambrosio and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-12-28 with Mathematics categories.
This textbook is addressed to PhD or senior undergraduate students in mathematics, with interests in analysis, calculus of variations, probability and optimal transport. It originated from the teaching experience of the first author in the Scuola Normale Superiore, where a course on optimal transport and its applications has been given many times during the last 20 years. The topics and the tools were chosen at a sufficiently general and advanced level so that the student or scholar interested in a more specific theme would gain from the book the necessary background to explore it. After a large and detailed introduction to classical theory, more specific attention is devoted to applications to geometric and functional inequalities and to partial differential equations. This is the second edition of the book, first published in 2018. It includes refinement of proofs, an updated bibliography and a more detailed discussion of minmax principles, with the aim of giving two fully self-contained proofs of Kantorovich duality.

Convex And Complex Perspectives On Positivity In Geometry written by Robert J. Berman and has been published by American Mathematical Society this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-01-28 with Mathematics categories.
This volume presents a collection of research articles arising from the conference on “Convex and Complex: Perspectives on Positivity in Geometry,” held in Cetraro, Italy, from October 31–November 4, 2022. The conference celebrated the 70th birthday of Bo Berndtsson and the vitality of current research across complex and convex geometry, as well as interactions between the two areas, all united by the overarching concept of positivity. Positivity plays a central role in complex and convex geometry. It arises from a range of complementary perspectives, as illustrated by the breadth of the papers appearing in this volume, including existence Kähler–Einstein edge metrics, Santaló-type inequalities, curvature of direct images of bundles, extension theorems for holomorphic functions, optimal transport and Hessian manifolds, interpolation and Brunn–Minkowski theory, and non-Archimedean geometry. The format of the workshop was innovative compared to standard conferences in mathematics, with focused 30-minute talks, aimed at stimulating lively discussions and a “flipped classroom” where the audience becomes more engaged and the speaker is not expected to transmit more information than listeners can possibly absorb. Lengthy breaks between talks and a relatively small number of talks allowed for useful time blocks for collaboration. This volume reflects the spirit of the conference, showcasing the vitality of current research in these areas as well as the profound impact of Bo Berndtsson's contributions to the field.

Special geometries as well as the relation between curvature and topology have always been of interest to differential geometers. More recently, these topics have turned out to be of use in physical problems related to string theory as well. This volume provides a unique and thorough survey on the latest developments on Riemannian geometry, special geometrical structures on manifolds, and their interactions with other fields such as mathematical physics, complex analysis, andalgebraic geometry. This volume presents ten papers written by participants of the ``Short Program on Riemannian Geometry,'' a workshop held at the CRM in Montreal in 2004. It will be a valuable reference for graduate students and research mathematicians alike. This proceedings volume gathers selected, revised papers presented at the X International Meeting on Lorentzian Geometry (GeLoCor 2021), virtually held at the University of Córdoba, Spain, on February 1-5, 2021. It includes surveys describing the state-of-the-art in specific areas, and a selection of the most relevant results presented at the conference. Taken together, the papers offer an invaluable introduction to key topics discussed at the conference and an overview of the main techniques in use today. This volume also gathers extended revisions of key studies in this field. Bringing new results and examples, these unique contributions offer new perspectives to the original problems and, in most cases, extend and reinforce the robustness of previous findings. Hosted every two years since 2001, the International Meeting on Lorentzian Geometry has become one of the main events bringing together the leading experts on Lorentzian geometry. In this volume, the reader will find studies on spatial and null hypersurfaces, low regularity in general relativity, conformal structures, Lorentz-Finsler spacetimes, and more. Given its scope, the book will be of interest to both young and experienced mathematicians and physicists whose research involves general relativity and semi-Riemannian geometry.
