Evolutionary Equations With Applications In Natural Sciences written by Jacek Banasiak and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-07 with Mathematics categories.
With the unifying theme of abstract evolutionary equations, both linear and nonlinear, in a complex environment, the book presents a multidisciplinary blend of topics, spanning the fields of theoretical and applied functional analysis, partial differential equations, probability theory and numerical analysis applied to various models coming from theoretical physics, biology, engineering and complexity theory. Truly unique features of the book are: the first simultaneous presentation of two complementary approaches to fragmentation and coagulation problems, by weak compactness methods and by using semigroup techniques, comprehensive exposition of probabilistic methods of analysis of long term dynamics of dynamical systems, semigroup analysis of biological problems and cutting edge pattern formation theory. The book will appeal to postgraduate students and researchers specializing in applications of mathematics to problems arising in natural sciences and engineering.

Piecewise Deterministic Processes In Biological Models written by Ryszard Rudnicki and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-20 with Mathematics categories.
This book presents a concise introduction to piecewise deterministic Markov processes (PDMPs), with particular emphasis on their applications to biological models. Further, it presents examples of biological phenomena, such as gene activity and population growth, where different types of PDMPs appear: continuous time Markov chains, deterministic processes with jumps, processes with switching dynamics, and point processes. Subsequent chapters present the necessary tools from the theory of stochastic processes and semigroups of linear operators, as well as theoretical results concerning the long-time behaviour of stochastic semigroups induced by PDMPs and their applications to biological models. As such, the book offers a valuable resource for mathematicians and biologists alike. The first group will find new biological models that lead to interesting and often new mathematical questions, while the second can observe how to include seemingly disparate biological proc esses into a unified mathematical theory, and to arrive at revealing biological conclusions. The target audience primarily comprises of researchers in these two fields, but the book will also benefit graduate students.

Existence Families Functional Calculi And Evolution Equations written by Ralph DeLaubenfels and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-11-15 with Mathematics categories.
This book presents an operator-theoretic approach to ill-posed evolution equations. It presents the basic theory, and the more surprising examples, of generalizations of strongly continuous semigroups known as 'existent families' and 'regularized semigroups'. These families of operators may be used either to produce all initial data for which a solution in the original space exists, or to construct a maximal subspace on which the problem is well-posed. Regularized semigroups are also used to construct functional, or operational, calculi for unbounded operators. The book takes an intuitive and constructive approach by emphasizing the interaction between functional calculus constructions and evolution equations. One thinks of a semigroup generated by A as etA and thinks of a regularized semigroup generated by A as etA g(A), producing solutions of the abstract Cauchy problem for initial data in the image of g(A). Material that is scattered throughout numerous papers is brought together and presented in a fresh, organized way, together with a great deal of new material.

Many results, both from semi group theory itself and from the applied sciences, are phrased in discipline-specific languages and hence are hardly known to a broader community. This volume contains a selection of lectures presented at a conference that was organised as a forum for all mathematicians using semi group theory to learn what is happening outside their own field of research. The collection will help to establish a number of new links between various sub-disciplines of semigroup theory, stochastic processes, differential equations and the applied fields. The theory of semigroups of operators is a well-developed branch of functional analysis. Its foundations were laid at the beginning of the 20th century, while the fundamental generation theorem of Hille and Yosida dates back to the forties. The theory was, from the very beginning, designed as a universal language for partial differential equations and stochastic processes, but at the same time it started to live as an independent branch of operator theory. Nowadays, it still has the same distinctive flavour: it develops rapidly by posing new ‘internal’ questions and in answering them, discovering new methods that can be used in applications. On the other hand, it is influenced by questions from PDEs and stochastic processes as well as from applied sciences such as mathematical biology and optimal control, and thus it continually gathers a new momentum. Researchers and postgraduate students working in operator theory, partial differential equations, probability and stochastic processes, analytical methods in biology and other natural sciences, optimization and optimal control will find this volume useful.

Analytic Methods For Coagulation Fragmentation Models Volume Ii written by Jacek Banasiak and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-09-05 with Mathematics categories.
Analytic Methods for Coagulation-Fragmentation Models is a two-volume set that provides a comprehensive exposition of the mathematical analysis of coagulation-fragmentation models. Initially, an in-depth survey of coagulation-fragmentation processes is presented, together with an account of relevant early results obtained on the associated model equations. These provide motivation for the subsequent detailed treatment of more up-to-date investigations which have led to significant theoretical developments on topics such as solvability and the long-term behaviour of solutions. To make the account as self-contained as possible, the mathematical tools that feature prominently in these modern treatments are introduced at appropriate places. The main theme of Volume I is the analysis of linear fragmentation models, with Volume II devoted to processes that involve the nonlinear contribution of coagulation. Features of Volume II: A primer on weak compactness in L 1 and dynamical systems A comprehensive theory of solvability of the coagulation-fragmentation equation by both the semigroup and weak compactness methods, including a thorough analysis of the gelation and shattering phenomena A detailed analysis of the long-term dynamics of the coagulation-fragmentation equations with a state-of-the-art discussion on self-similar solutions

This proceedings volume features selected contributions from the conference Positivity X. The field of positivity deals with ordered mathematical structures and their applications. At the biannual series of Positivity conferences, the latest developments in this diverse field are presented. The 2019 edition was no different, with lectures covering a broad spectrum of topics, including vector and Banach lattices and operators on such spaces, abstract stochastic processes in an ordered setting, the theory and applications of positive semi-groups to partial differential equations, Hilbert geometries, positivity in Banach algebras and, in particular, operator algebras, as well as applications to mathematical economics and financial mathematics. The contributions in this book reflect the variety of topics discussed at the conference. They will be of interest to researchers in functional analysis, operator theory, measure and integration theory, operator algebras, and economics. Positivity X was dedicated to the memory of our late colleague and friend, Coenraad Labuschagne. His untimely death in 2018 came as an enormous shock to the Positivity community. He was a prominent figure in the Positivity community and was at the forefront of the recent development of abstract stochastic processes in a vector lattice context.

This book presents some recent mathematical developments about neutron transport equations. Several different topics are dealt with including regularity of velocity averages, spectral analysis of transport operators, inverse problems, nonlinear problems arising in the stochastic theory of neutron chain fissions, compactness properties of perturbed of 0-semigroups in Banach spaces with applications to transport theory, Miyadera perturbations of c0-semigroups in Banach spaces with applications to singular transport equations, a thorough analysis of the leading eigenelements of transport operators and their approximation, scattering theory. Besides the new problems addressed in this book a unification and extension of the classical spectral analysis of neutron transport equations is given.
