This book is designed to make phonics instruction more appealing to younger children. It is also intended for older children who may be struggling with these important concepts and require a more fun and motivating approach. Phonics is critically important to build literacy and spelling ability. Workbook pages (the most common approach to phonics instruction in the classroom and among commercial book offerings) have their place as practice and repetition can help cement phonics concepts for students. However, they also tend to be overused. This overuse causes many learners to cringe when they see worksheets, equating them with boring work and drudgery. To extend the learning and mastery while incorporating artistic expression into the lesson plan, motivated students can even be encouraged to create their own illustrations and make their own versions of this phonics book! Diphthongs and common blends are also addressed.
