'I will be recommending this book to every parent' Dr Laura Markham 'I adore this book!' Dr Tina Payne Bryson Over her decades as a clinical psychologist, Dr Mona Delahooke has helped countless distraught parents who struggle to manage their children's challenging behaviours. These families are understandably focused on correcting or improving a child's lack of compliance, emotional outbursts, tantrums and other 'out of control' behaviour. But behaviour, no matter how challenging, is not the problem but a symptom; a clue about what is happening in a child's unique physiological makeup. In Brain-Body Parenting, Dr Delahooke offers a radical new approach to parenting based on an approach that considers the essential role of the entire nervous system, which produces children's feelings and behaviours. When we begin to understand the biology beneath the behaviour, suggests Dr Delahooke, we give our children the resources they need to grow and thrive, and we give ourselves the gift of a happier, more connected relationship with them. Brain-Body Parenting empowers parents with tools to help their children develop self-regulation skills, while also encouraging parental self-care. The result is a deeper understanding of your child, encouraging calmer behaviour, more harmonious family dynamics, and increased resilience.

The Palgrave Handbook Of Education Law For Schools written by Karen Trimmer and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-06-30 with Education categories.
This Handbook examines the essential nature of the law within an educational context and asks why there is not greater preparation for this aspect of a teacher’s role. Principals and teachers across the world now work in increasingly uncertain and challenging environments involving complex legislative frameworks, with their roles and responsibilities constantly changing to meet these demands: thus, it is imperative that educators adapt and acquire new skills relating to child protection and criminal law. On a daily basis, teachers and practitioners are being challenged to critically examine and evaluate the legal rights and obligations of various stakeholders, including students, parents, educators and administrators. However, if these skills are not developed, the implications will be significant: particularly so if principals are deterred from pursuing innovative education strategies due to potential litigation risks. Consequently, the chapters will empower principals and teachers in the management of these concerns. This wide-ranging handbook, including case studies from around the world, will be of interest and value to both scholars of education law and practitioners.

The School To Prison Pipeline written by Nancy A. Heitzeg and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-11 with Social Science categories.
This book offers a research and comparison-driven look at the school-to-prison pipeline, its racial dynamics, the connections to mass incarceration, and our flawed educational climate—and suggests practical remedies for change. How is racism perpetuated by the education system, particularly via the "school-to-prison pipeline?" How is the school to prison pipeline intrinsically connected to the larger context of the prison industrial complex as well as the extensive and ongoing criminalization of youth of color? This book uniquely describes the system of policies and practices that racialize criminalization by routing youth of color out of school and towards prison via the school-to-prison pipeline while simultaneously medicalizing white youth for comparable behaviors. This work is the first to consider and link all of the research and data from a sociological perspective, using this information to locate racism in our educational systems; describe the rise of the so-called prison industrial complex; spotlight the concomitant expansion of the "medical-industrial complex" as an alternative for controlling the white and well-off, both adult and juveniles; and explore the significance of media in furthering the white racial frame that typically views people of color as "criminals" as an automatic response. The author also examines the racial dynamics of the school to prison pipeline as documented by rates of suspension, expulsion, and referrals to legal systems and sheds light on the comparative dynamics of the related educational social control of white and middle-class youth in the larger context of society as a whole.
