The book is devoted to the consideration of the different processes taking place in thin films and at surfaces. Since the most important physico-chemical phenomena in such media are accompanied by the rearrangement of an intra- and intermolecular coordinates and consequently a surrounding molecular ensemble, the theory of radiationless multi-vibrational transitions is used for its description. The second part of the book considers the numerous surface phenomena. And in the third part is described the preparation methods and characteristics of different types of thin films. Both experimental and theoretical descriptions are represented. Media rearrangement coupled with the reagent transformation largely determines the absolute value and temperature dependence of the rate constants and other characteristics of the considered processes. These effects are described at the atomic or molecular level based on the multi-phonon theory, starting from the first pioneering studies through to contemporary studies.A number of questions are included at the end of many chapters to further reinforce the material presented.· Unified approach to the description of numerous physico-chemical phenomena in different materials· Based on the pioneering research work of the authors· Explantion of a variety of experimental observations· Material is presented at two levels of complexity for specialists and non-specialists · Identifies existing and potential applications of the processes and phenomena · Includes questions at the end of some chapters to further reinforce the material discussed

This and its companion Volume 2 document the proceedings of the International Symposium on Physicochemical Aspects of Polymer Surfaces held under the auspices of the American Chemical Society in New York City, August 23-28, 1981. This event was sponsored by the Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry and the Divisions of Organic Coatings and Plastics Chemistry, and Industrial and Engineering Chemistry were the cosponsors. The study of polymer surfaces is important from both funda mental and applied points of view. The applications of polymers are legion and wheresoever polymers are used, their surface char acteristics, inter alia, are of great concern and importance; and the areas where polymers find applications range from microelec tronics to prosthetics. In the last decade or so, the availabil ity of various sophisticated surface analytical techniques, par ticularly ESCA, has been a boon in enhancing our knowledge of polymer surfaces. This Symposium was designed to bring together scientists and technologists interested in all aspects of polymer surfaces, to provide a forum for discussion of various ramifications of poly mer surfaces, to discover the latest developments, to provide an opportunity for cross-pollination of ideas, and to highlight areas which are in astate of rapid development and those which need intensified efforts. If the comments from attendees is any barometer of the success of an event, then this Symposium was a grand success and the above objectives were amply fulfilled.

Cu(In1-xGax)Se2 Based Thin Film Solar Cells provides valuable contents about the fabrication and characterization of chalcopyrite Cu(In1-xGax)Se2 based thin film solar cells and modules. The growth of chalcopyrite Cu(In1-xGax)(S1-ySey)2 absorbers, buffers, window layers, antireflection coatings, and finally metallic grids, which are the sole components of solar cells, is clearly illustrated. The absorber, which contains multiple elements, segregates secondary phases if the growth conditions are not well optimized i.e., the main drawback in the fabrication of solar cells. More importantly the solutions for the growth of thin films are given in detail. The properties of all the individual layers and single crystals including solar cells analyzed by different characterization techniques such as SEM, AFM, XPS, AES, TEM, XRD, optical, photoluminescence, and Raman spectroscopy are explicitly demonstrated. The electrical analyses such as conductivities, Hall mobilities, deep level transient spectroscopy measurements etc., provide a broad picture to understand thin films or single crystals and their solar cells. The book clearly explains the working principle of energy conversion from solar to electrical with basic sciences for the chalcopyrite based thin film solar cells. Multiscale Modeling In Nanophotonics written by Alexander Bagaturyants and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-11-22 with Science categories.
The idea of theoretically predicting the useful properties of various materials using multiscale simulations has become popular in recent years. Of special interest are nanostructured, organic functional materials, which have a hierarchical structure and are considered materials of the future because of their flexibility and versatility. Their functional properties are inherited from the molecule that lies at the heart of the hierarchical structure. On the other hand, the properties of this functional molecule, in particular its absorption and emission spectra, strongly depend on its interactions with its molecular environment. Therefore, the multiscale simulations used to predict the properties of organic functional materials should be atomistic, that is, they should be based on classical and/or quantum methods that explicitly take into account the molecular structure and intermolecular interactions at the atomic level. This book, written by well-known specialists in theoretical chemistry, focuses on the basics of classical mechanics, quantum chemistry methods used for molecular disordered materials, classical methods of molecular simulations of disordered materials, vibronic interactions, and applications (presented as multiscale strategies for atomistic simulations of photonic materials). It has been edited by Professor Mikhail Alfimov, a renowned Russian scientist, a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia, and the founder, first director, and now research supervisor of the Photochemistry Center of the Russian Academy of Science, Russia. Professor Alfimov’s main research interests are in the field of photochemistry and photophysics of molecular and supramolecular systems. The book is a great reference for advanced undergraduate- and graduate-level students of nanotechnology and molecular science and researchers in nano- and molecular science, nanotechnology, chemistry, and physical chemistry, especially those with an interest in functional materials.

The Role Of Ecological Chemistry In Pollution Research And Sustainable Development written by Ali Mufit Bahadir and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-08-03 with Science categories.
Sustainable Development has become the leading concept of the 21 century. It describes a development, which agrees with the needs of the present generation but does not endanger the chances of the coming generations to satisfy also their needs. “Sustainable development” has become an important general goal for all fields of life like economy, ecology and social balance. The development and shaping of our future has been discussed internationally like on the summits of the Conferences in Rio and in Johannesburg. But this is also a topic on national base in various countries. Leading authorities in various fields of economy and politics have also accepted this concept. Although the concept of sustainable development has been generally accepted, there are still problems how to achieve and evaluate these general goals. It is clear that the definitions about the prime needs vary from man to man, from country to country and from continent to continent. But pollution does not respect national borders. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the politics of economy, ecology and social demands by a synergistic way that they are strengthened by each other. If it is not possible to stop tendencies, which threaten the future quality of life, the cost demands of societies will dramatically increase and negative tendencies will become irreversible.
