English summary: The third volume of essays by Johannes Wallmann contains 20 individual studies of the church history of the 17th and 18th centuries, mainly of pietism. By comparing pietism and orthodoxy, towards which pietism was antagonistic, it is the author's intention to make pietism visible as an historical phenomenon and to counteract a typological expansion of the concept of pietism as a timeless international piety movement. The author deals with a wide variety of subjects, ranging from the differentiation between church and radical pietism, the relationship between pietism and mysticism, the attitude towards the Old Testament and the way in which pietism distanced itself from orthodoxy and became more well-disposed toward Jewish worship. There are further essays on the research history, printing and distribution of Spener's Pia Desideria and the beginning of pietism in Middle Eastern Europe. German description: Der dritte Aufsatzband von Johannes Wallmann enthalt zwanzig Einzelstudien zur Kirchengeschichte des 17. und fruhen 18. Jahrhunderts, insbesondere zur Geschichte des Pietismus. Durch den Vergleich mit der Orthodoxie, zu der der Pietismus in Gegensatz geriet, gewinnt er einen historischen Pietismusbegriff, der nicht nur in der Kirchengeschichte, sondern auch in anderen historischen Disziplinen dienlich ist und einer typologischen Ausweitung des Pietismusbegriffs auf eine zeitlose internationale Frommigkeitsbewegung entgegengewirkt. Die Beitrage reichen von einem Ruckblick auf die Anfange der Pietismusforschung, genauen Untersuchungen zu Speners pietistischer Programmschrift Pia Desideria, neuer Bewertung des radikalen Pietismus, den pietistischen Anfangen im Baltikum, dem Verhaltnis des Pietismus zur Mystik bis hin zu der Erforschung der Predigt in Pietismus und Orthodoxie und zur Geschichte Johann Sebastian Bachs. The essays selected for this work deal with various subjects but in their entirety they show pietism in a new light. The subjects range from the concept of piety, the piety crisis in the 17th century, the understanding of the Bible, prayer as a form of pietistic spiritual welfare, the relationship between pietism and spiritualism and pietism and Tridentine Catholicism and the relationship between pietism and Prussianism. Special attention is paid to the attitude of pietism towards Judaism. German description: In den vorliegenden Aufsatzen befasst sich Johannes Wallmann mit dem Pietismus des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts, uberwiegend mit Philipp Jakob Spener, dem Begrunder des Pietismus. Die Aufsatze sind so ausgewahlt, dass in jedem ein besonderes Thema behandelt wird. Damit bietet sich ein kaleidoskopartiges, thematisch nicht eingrenzbares Gesamtbild. Johannes Wallmann verfolgt dabei unterschiedliche Fragestellungen und untersucht die Anfange des Pietismus, das Frommigkeitsverstandnis, die Frommigkeitskrise des 17. Darin beschaftigt sich Johannes Wallmann mit den Aussenbeziehungen des Pietismus zum Spiritualismus, zur lutherischen Orthodoxie, zum tridentinischen Katholizismus, zur neuzeitlichen Naturwissenschaft und zum Preussentum.
