Amid in a midlife crisis, on the brink of divorce, and burnt out professionally, I embark on a journey. Nearly half a century lies behind me, but what lies ahead...? Numerous questions and life themes weigh heavier on my shoulders than the light pilgrim's pack on my back. The Camino leads from Porto through Santiago de Compostela to Fisterra, yet ultimately it is the path to oneself. It's an adventure to travel without a smartphone, to be present, and to have a keen appreciation for the wonders of nature. At the outset, the journey proves to be rough and stressful, but with time, it becomes smoother and more harmonious. The silent loner repeatedly encounters fellow pilgrim Tina along the way, and by journey's end, they not only share the common path...

This open access edited volume provides theoretical, practical, and historical perspectives on art and education in a post-digital, post-internet era. Recently, these terms have been attached to artworks, artists, exhibitions, and educational practices that deal with the relationships between online and offline, digital and physical, and material and immaterial. By taking the current socio-technological conditions of the post-digital and the post-internet seriously, contributors challenge fixed narratives and field-specific ownership of these terms, as well as explore their potential and possible shortcomings when discussing art and education. Chapters also recognize historical forebears of digital art and education while critically assessing art, media, and other realms of engagement. This book encourages readers to explore what kind of educational futures might a post-digital, post-internet era engender.

Wounded Shepherd written by Austen Ivereigh and has been published by Macmillan + ORM this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-05 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Following his critically acclaimed The Great Reformer, Austen Ivereigh's colorful, clear-eyed portrait of Pope Francis takes us inside the Vatican's urgent debate over the future of the church in Wounded Shepherd. This deeply contextual biography centers on the tensions generated by the pope’s attempt to turn the Church away from power and tradition and outwards to engage humanity with God’s mercy. Through battles with corrupt bankers and worldly cardinals, in turbulent meetings and on global trips, history’s first Latin-American pope has attempted to reshape the Church to evangelize the contemporary age. At the same time, he has stirred other leaders’ deep-seated fear that the Church is capitulating to modernity—leaders who have challenged his bid to create a more welcoming, attentive institution. Facing rebellions over his allowing sacraments for the divorced and his attempt to create a more "ecological" Catholicism, as well as a firestorm of criticism for the Church’s record on sexual abuse, Francis emerges as a leader of remarkable vision and skill with a relentless spiritual focus—a leader who is at peace in the turmoil surrounding him. With entertaining anecdotes, insider accounts, and expert analysis, Ivereigh’s journey through the key episodes of Francis’s reform in Rome and the wider Church brings into sharp focus the frustrations and fury, as well as the joys and successes, of one of the most remarkable pontificates of the contemporary age.

Transforming Terror written by Karin Lofthus Carrington and has been published by Univ of California Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-06-02 with Social Science categories.

This inspired collection offers a new paradigm for moving the world beyond violence as the first, and often only, response to violence. Through essays and poetry, prayers and meditations, Transforming Terror powerfully demonstrates that terrorist violence—defined here as any attack on unarmed civilians—can never be stopped by a return to the thinking that created it. A diverse array of contributors—writers, healers, spiritual and political leaders, scientists, and activists, including Desmond Tutu, Huston Smith, Riane Eisler, Daniel Ellsberg, Amos Oz, Fatema Mernissi, Fritjof Capra, George Lakoff, Mahmoud Darwish, Terry Tempest Williams, and Jack Kornfield—considers how we might transform the conditions that produce terrorist acts and bring true healing to the victims of these acts. Broadly encompassing both the Islamic and Western worlds, the book explores the nature of consciousness and offers a blueprint for change that makes peace possible. From unforgettable firsthand accounts of terrorism, the book draws us into awareness of our ecological and economic interdependence, the need for connectedness, and the innate human capacity for compassion.

What does interfaith dialogue mean in Rome, as opposed to anywhere else? This ethnography of Roman interreligious dialogue narrates how interfaith engagement and social transformation are talked about and practiced today in the Eternal City. The constellation of Roman interfaith organizations is analyzed in a Durkheimian framework as a moral community with distinct rituals and sacred objects, referred to as the "interfaith society". Through in-depth participant-observation and interviews with interfaith dialoguers on the institutional, nonprofit, and grassroots levels, this research explores the community dynamics and social impact of pursuing religious pluralism in the shadow of the Vatican. Dr. Jenn Lindsay is Lecturer in Sociology and Communications at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. In addition to her scholarly writing and teaching about social and religious diversity and media, she is an award-winning documentary filmmaker.
