O livro Planejamento, monitoramento e avaliação na gestão pública do esporte apresenta uma pesquisa colaborativa realizada na Secretaria de Esporte, Lazer e Turismo (Selt) do município mineiro de Lavras/MG, a qual se constituiu pela parceria entre os pesquisadores e os participantes, em todo o decorrer da pesquisa, contribuindo para a produção de conhecimentos. Para obtenção dos dados foram utilizadas a entrevista informal, a entrevista semiestruturada e a análise documental; todas as informações coletadas foram apresentadas e discutidas com os participantes, sendo assim, todo o livro foi construído colaborativamente. Destarte, este livro instiga que a preparação de toda a equipe envolvida na gestão esportiva, e não apenas o gestor principal, pode ser um caminho para minimizar os problemas oriundos no gerenciamento dos recursos públicos.

Public managers can, to a certain extent, choose between various mana- ment paradigms which are provided by public and business administration scholars and by politicians as well.
