Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Sprachwissenschaft / Sprachforschung (fachübergreifend), Note: 1,0, Universität Erfurt (Philosophische Fakultät Institut für Germanistik), Veranstaltung: Kontrastive Linguistik, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Wunsch der Menschheit ,die nationalen Sprachgrenzen zu überwinden um sich transnational nicht nur auf sprachlicher Ebene näher zu kommen, besteht schon seit Jahrhunderten. Mithilfe des technischen Fortschritts von Kommunikationsperipheriegeräten, wie beispielsweise Übersetzungsprogrammen und Simultanübersetzungen in den Medien, hat sich die Menschheit dem Ziel einer lückenlosen Verständigung angenähert. Dennoch: Einen totalen sprachlichen Verständigungsgrad ohne die Hilfe von technischen Peripheriegeräten gibt es auch heute noch nicht. Kann es auch nicht geben, denn weltweit existieren circa 4500 bis 6000 gesprochene Sprachen. Viele davon sind vom Aussterben bedroht, aber eine Reduktion des Sprachenbestandes auf nur ein oder zwei Sprachen wird zukünftig kaum eintreten. Um dem Wunsch einer internationalen Verständigung mittels einer internationalen Sprache näher zu kommen, begannen Gelehrte seit Beginn des 17. Jahrhunderts logische und relativ einfach zu erlernende Sprachen zu kreieren. Sie werden als sogenannte Plansprachen bezeichnet. „Die Menschen versprachen sich von ihr zweierlei: Zum einen sollte die neue Sprache, wie Leibniz [...] es formulierte, „leicht zu lernen sein“ und „in bewundernswerter Weise der Verständigung zwischen den Völkern dienen, zum anderen sollte sie der menschlichen Vernunft das Denken erleichtern.“ Aktuell gibt es nicht viele gesprochene Plansprachen, die bekannteste und die die sich bewährt hat in ihrem Gebrauch heißt Esperanto. Sie ist die „einzige existierende wirklich vollständig planmäßig entwickelte Plansprache, die es gibt [und] man hört oder liest [sie] in Radiosendungen, Zeitungen und Zeitschriften und auch im Internet.“ Esperanto und Volapük, die ersten verwirklichten Plansprachenprojekte sollen miteinander kontrastiv-linguistisch hinsichtlich ihres Verb-und Satzbaus verglichen werden. Dazu wird der Versuch einer interlinearen morphologischen Glossierung des ersten Abschnitts des weltbekannten „Vater Unser“ in jeweils beiden Sprachen unternommen. Aus dieser Analyse sollen in erster Linie der Verbbau und weiter die Tendenzen im Satzbau beider Sprachen beschrieben werden. Als Einleitung in das Thema „Plansprachen“ wird zunächst erläutert, welche Definition, welche Bezeichnungen von und welche Forderungen an Plansprachen existieren. Danach wird auf die traditionelle Klassifikation in apriorische, aposteriorische, und gemischte, das heißt aposteriorische-apriorische Plansprachen(projekte), eingegangen.

This book is an ambitious synthesis of the social, economic, political and cultural interactions between Greeks and non-Greeks in the Mediterranean world during the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods. Although the era of European colonialism has long passed, misgivings about the inequality of the encounters between European and non-European languages persist in many parts of the postcolonial world. This unfinished state of affairs, this lingering historical experience of being caught among unequal languages, is the subject of Rey Chow's book. A diverse group of personae, never before assembled in a similar manner, make their appearances in the various chapters: the young mulatto happening upon a photograph about skin color in a popular magazine; the man from Martinique hearing himself named "Negro" in public in France; call center agents in India trained to Americanize their accents while speaking with customers; the Algerian Jewish philosopher reflecting on his relation to the French language; African intellectuals debating the pros and cons of using English for purposes of creative writing; the translator acting by turns as a traitor and as a mourner in the course of cross-cultural exchange; Cantonese-speaking writers of Chinese contemplating the politics of food consumption; radio drama workers straddling the forms of traditional storytelling and mediatized sound broadcast. In these riveting scenes of speaking and writing imbricated with race, pigmentation, and class demarcations, Chow suggests, postcolonial languaging becomes, de facto, an order of biopolitics. The native speaker, the fulcrum figure often accorded a transcendent status, is realigned here as the repository of illusory linguistic origins and unities. By inserting British and post-British Hong Kong (the city where she grew up) into the languaging controversies that tend to be pursued in Francophone (and occasionally Anglophone) deliberations, and by sketching the fraught situations faced by those coping with the specifics of using Chinese while negotiating with English, Chow not only redefines the geopolitical boundaries of postcolonial inquiry but also demonstrates how such inquiry must articulate historical experience to the habits, practices, affects, and imaginaries based in sounds and scripts.

Niżyńska’s study, exemplary in its use of theoretical concepts, introduces English-language readers to a preeminent voice of Polish literature. Niżyńska explores how a fusion of seemingly irreconcilable qualities, such as the traumatic and the everyday, imbues Białoszewski’s writing with its idiosyncratic appeal. Białoszewski’s A Memoir of the Warsaw Uprising (1977, revised 1991) describes the Poles’ heroic struggle to liberate Warsaw from Nazi occupation in 1944 as harrowing yet ordinary. His later prose represents everyday life permeated by traces of the traumatic. This monograph examines the ideological legacy of the the apparently innocent kinship metaphors of “mother tongue” and “native speaker” by historicizing their linguistic development. It shows how the early nation states constructed the ideology of ethnolinguistic nationalism, a composite of national language, identity, geography, and race. This ideology invented myths of congenital communities that configured the national language in a symbiotic matrix between body and physical environment and as the ethnic and corporeal ownership of national identity and local organic nature. These ethno-nationalist gestures informed the philology of the early modern era and generated arboreal and genealogical models of language, culminating most divisively in the race conscious discourse of the Indo-European hypothesis of the 19th century. The philosophical theories of organicism also contributed to these ideologies. The fundamentally nationalist conflation of race and language was and is the catalyst for subsequent permutations of ethnolinguistic discrimination, which continue today. Scholarship should scrutinize the tendency to overextend biological metaphors in the study of language, as these can encourage, however surreptitiously, genetic and racial impressions of language.
