The demands of industry for creating new functional materials with predetermined properties have stimulated an increasing interest in the investigation of processes occurring in plasma jets of complex chemical composition (homogeneous and heterogeneous) as well as their interaction with hard surfaces. This Proceedings volume contains contributions from leading international specialists on plasma science and technology which were presented at the 2nd International Workshop ''Plasma Jets in the Development in of New Materials Technology'', 3--9 September 1990, Frunze (USSR). The scope of the workshop incorporated the following aspects: modelling of the processes of momentum heat and mass transfer in homogeneous and heterogeneous plasma jets as well as interaction between the particles and the base; diagnostics of the parameters of gas and disperse phases in plasma flows; plasma-spraying processes investigations; processes of treatment and production of materials, including powder materials.

Technology of Efficient Energy Utilization is a report of a NATO Science Committee conference held in Les Arcs, France on October 8-12, 1973. The focus of said conference is on energy conservation, the end-uses of energy, and its determining factors in the long run. The report is composed of two parts. Part I includes the working reports from different groups every chapter. The reports cover industrial, residential, and commercial heat; light; motion; electronic and electrolytic processes; and residential, commercial, industrial, urban systems. Part II is the research portfolio, which is divided into three broad groups for easier access: group A – industrial process, group B – transport, and group C – buildings. The text is for those in departments and institutions that study energy and energy conservation, especially those who seek to improve the use of energy.

Plasma Chemistry - 2: Plasma Chemistry and Transport Phenomena in Thermal Plasmas presents the proceeding of the Second International Symposium on Plasma Chemistry, held in Rome, Italy, on September 18–23, 1975. This book discusses the thermodynamic state of chemically reacting plasmas, which are generally described by Pauli or Boltzmann kinetic equations. Organized into eight chapters, this compilation of papers begins with an overview of the influence of the plasma state by a superimposed laser radiation field. This text then examines the mechanisms of chemical transformations in electric discharges. Other chapters consider the successful exploitation of thermal plasmas in the field of high temperature chemistry. This book discusses as well the status of plasma processes involving mass transfer and heat, with reference to the processes of condensation, vaporization, and chemical reaction. The final chapter deals with plasma heating and spraying of various materials. This book is a valuable resource for chemists, metallurgists, and scientists.

This authoritative reference presents a comprehensive review of the evolution of plasma science and technology fundamentals over the past five decades. One of this field’s principal challenges has been its multidisciplinary nature requiring coverage of fundamental plasma physics in plasma generation, transport phenomena under high-temperature conditions, involving momentum, heat and mass transfer, and high-temperature reaction kinetics, as well as fundamentals of material science under extreme conditions. The book is structured in five distinct parts, which are presented in a reader-friendly format allowing for detailed coverage of the science base and engineering aspects of the technology including plasma generation, mathematical modeling, diagnostics, and industrial applications of thermal plasma technology. This book is an essential resource for practicing engineers, research scientists, and graduate students working in the field.
