In several industrial fields (such as automotive, steelmaking, aerospace, and fire protection systems) metals need to withstand a combination of cyclic loadings and high temperatures. In this condition, they usually exhibit an amount—more or less pronounced—of plastic deformation, often accompanied by creep or stress-relaxation phenomena. Plastic deformation under the action of cyclic loadings may cause fatigue cracks to appear, eventually leading to failures after a few cycles. In estimating the material strength under such loading conditions, the high-temperature material behavior needs to be considered against cyclic loading and creep, the experimental strength to isothermal/non-isothermal cyclic loadings and, not least of all, the choice and experimental calibration of numerical material models and the selection of the most comprehensive design approach. This book is a series of recent scientific contributions addressing several topics in the field of experimental characterization and physical-based modeling of material behavior and design methods against high-temperature loadings, with emphasis on the correlation between microstructure and strength. Several material types are considered, from stainless steel, aluminum alloys, Ni-based superalloys, spheroidal graphite iron, and copper alloys. The quality of scientific contributions in this book can assist scholars and scientists with their research in the field of metal plasticity, creep, and low-cycle fatigue.

High Plasticity Magnesium Alloys written by Fusheng Pan and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-01-24 with Technology & Engineering categories.

High-plasticity magnesium alloy materials can help achieve weight reduction in industrial components, including in automobiles, 3C products, military technologies, and aerospace. Weight reduction can be achieved through using plastic forming processes to prepare magnesium alloys. However, magnesium alloys also present challenges. For example, they have only three slip systems, due to their HCP lattice structure, resulting in poor plastic deformation capacity, long processing times and high production costs. New alloy melting and deformation processing technology offers novel ways to develop high-plasticity magnesium alloy materials. High Plasticity Magnesium Alloys focuses on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and processing methods of magnesium alloy materials. The title offers theory and methods on high-plasticity magnesium alloys, including phase diagram construction, alloying and deformation. Four typical high-plasticity magnesium alloys are discussed through thermodynamic phase diagram construction and the characterization of their microstructure, mechanical properties and texture at as-cast, extruded, rolled and heat-treated states. Six chapters present an overview of high-plasticity magnesium alloys; first principle calculations for the effects of alloying elements; Mg-Gd-Zr medium strength and high-plasticity alloy; medium strength and high-plasticity Mg-Mn based alloys; medium strength and high-plasticity Mc-Sn based alloys; and Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Mn high-strength and high-plasticity magnesium alloys. This book presents the plasticity of magnesium alloys, and guides the design and development of new high-strength and high-plasticity magnesium alloys. It provides detailed solutions for practicing industrial engineers.
