This poem describes a harrowing time in our history. The author was inspired by the depth of feeling and the fear of being forgotten that plagued the writers of the "lost generation." We can see bit of that fear in ourselves and in others of our time. It is easy to feel lost in a time of social media and technology. This poem is a bridge that closes the gap between the two generations. The author hopes it reminds people that nothing is ever truly lost.

I was introduced to poetry in the early 60's by my English teacher Mr David John and poets such as Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon and Rupert Brooke. Many of us questioned the futility of the war, even at school age. We must never forget the sacrifices that were made in this war of all wars, on both sides. May they all Rest In Peace.

Yasmin Mariam Kloth's poems skillfully channel the voices and the spirit of the extraordinary women in her life. Ancestry Unfinished becomes a document of "meaning making." In the tradition of immigrant narratives, Kloth juxtaposes the American day-to-day realities with her hypnotic Syrian-Lebanese heritage. Her parent's adopted country of Egypt becomes vastly picturesque. Yet, this collection is deeply introspective and full of implied questions. Embrace yourself-Kloth is an exquisite wordsmith. Her flavorful poems will tuck you delicately between her grandmother's hand rolled grape leaves and her infinite wisdom. I kept rereading these poems like a sacred text, pausing to contemplate and then continuing to turn the page before the storm of assimilation compromises the fate of our daughters. -Shahé Mankerian, History of Forgetfulness (Fly on the Wall Press, 2021) Yasmin Mariam Kloth's writing is arresting and acute, filled with deep sensory encounters of the human form, of air and land, of language and music, of keepsakes and customs and coffee and lime and the "place where the river is older / than pieces of the sky." These poems skillfully interrogate multiple modes of betweenness-diasporic consciousness, medical and genetic uncertainty, the turning-over of generations-in order to ask hard and essential questions about identity, lineage, and what it means to look to the past and the future. I'm grateful for Kloth's poems in the world. -Natalie Shapero, Popular Longing (Copper Canyon, 2021) Traveling the lines of these poems from "Grandmother," to "Mother," to "Daughter," Yasmin Mariam Kloth weaves threads between her Middle Eastern heritage and her life in Ohio. In yearning to connect with and live inside an "unfinished ancestry," Kloth bridges the "distance (between) language and loss" eloquently and with great love, "search(ing) for parts of (her)self" amid family stories and traditions. These carefully-crafted poems address such subjects as dementia, ritual, memory, and language, and call upon the "small things"-a phone call, a daughter's face, a palm tree-to reveal fingerprints of belonging that mark the way home. -Sandy Coomer, The Broken Places (Saddle Road Press, 2021)

Zarathustra S Children written by Raymond Furness and has been published by Camden House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Literary Criticism categories.

A study of the enormous influence of the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche on turn-of-the-century German literature. The aim of this book is to explore "that post-Nietzschean archipelago of German literature which no one mind can hope to map, let alone inhabit" (Michael Hamburger) and to introduce it to the English-speaking reader for the firsttime, in accessible form. The study starts from the assumption that the daring imagery and cosmic sweep of Thus Spake Zarathustra provided the impetus for the creation of visionary epics and cosmological poetic universes. The book is original in that it presents for the first time a selection of writers hitherto regarded as impossible of access and reduces their epic scope to manageable proportions while preserving their essential meaning. Among thewriters treated are Alfred Mombert, Theodor Däubler, Rudolf Pannwitz, Ludwig Derleth, Alfred Schuler, Ludwig Klages, Christian Morgenstern, and the members of the Friedrichshagen Circle. Furness draws on the most recent scholarship and provides a fascinating account of a 'lost generation.' The book will be of interest to Nietzsche scholars, to students of Lebensphilosophie, and to those interested in German literature around the turn of the century. It will be of special interest to those drawn to the creation of myths and to radical religious thought. Raymond Furness is professor and former chair of German at St.Andrews University, Scotland. He has published widely on late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century German literature.

Experience a taste of one of the English language’s foremost writers of the 20th century. Originally published in 1923, Ernest Hemingway’s Three Stories and Ten Poems feature some of the expatriate’s lesser known, but still wonderful, works. The stories and poems include: “Up in Michigan” “Out of Season” “My Old Man” “Chapter Heading” “Montparnasse” “Roosevelt” And more! Originally privately published in Paris, Three Stories and Ten Poems holds an interesting history. The three stories “Up in Michigan,” “Out of Season,” and “My Old Man” were first seen in this collection, but “Up in Michigan” was banned and not considered publishable in America until 1938 because of its blatant sexuality. In addition, this original publication of the three stories is all that remains of Hemingway’s early works after his suitcase containing the originals was stolen.

This book explores the creative women of the "Lost Generation" including painters, sculptors, film makers, writers, singers, composers, dancers, and impresarios who all pursued artistic careers in the years leading up to, during, and following World War I. These women’s stories, and the art they created, commissioned, mobilized as propaganda, and performed shed light on the shifting nature of gender norms during this period. With the combined knowledge and expertise from different contributors, chapters in this book consider how modernist practices continued their development in women’s hands during the war through networks forged by and for women artists in the absence of their male colleagues. These chapters also reflect on how, in many cases, the dissolution of these structures after the November 1918 armistice had detrimental consequences for their professional trajectories. This book challenges the place creative women currently hold in the historical record while also clarifying how these artists and impresarios contributed to wartime and post-war culture. This collection of essays will be of great value to scholars interested in social and gender history of the twentieth century, as well as historians of the arts through offering nuanced understanding of the essential work of female creative professionals, highlighting artistic women’s experiences of resistance, mourning, and reinvention in the shadow of the Great War.
