Quando si parla di invettiva, la caratteristica principale sembra essere quella dell’attacco, dell’insulto, della violenza verbale. Si dice infatti “pronunciare un’invettiva”, o “lanciare, scagliare un’invettiva”. L’invettiva è definita nel Vocabolario degli Accademici della Crusca (1612), con le parole di Francesco da Buti, come «riprensione, che l’huomo fa crucciosamente. E perciò si chiama invettiva, cioè commozione contro altrui». Essa pone a chi se ne occupa numerose questioni, tra le quali fondamentale è quella che riguarda la sua natura di genere letterario o di registro retorico appartenente allo sfogo o all’offesa contro qualcuno (un avversario, un’istituzione). Questo volume indaga proprio la forma invettiva così come si è presentata in alcuni testi della nostra letteratura, nel suo percorso storico dal Trecento al Novecento. Si è perciò trovata la formula di “scritture dell’ira” (enfatizzando le varie esperienze e i diversi contesti), attraverso cui collocare i testi riconosciuti di una tradizione letteraria italiana. In questa prospettiva, l’invettiva si presenta come una forma codificata di indignazione, di maledizione, di sdegno, che si esprime in un uso violento e rabbioso della parola, ma anche come operazione politica e religiosa, come estetica dell’eccesso, e infine come risposta a un vissuto personale tragico e difficile.

Caterina Cornaro (1454-1510) came from one of the most important Venetian families of her time and became the last queen of Cyprus. On the occasion of the fifth centenary of her death, an international conference was held in Venice in September 2010 - organised by the two editors of this volume. During that interdisciplinary event, well-known scholars from the fields of history, art history, literary history, archaeology, Byzantine studies and musicology presented the results of their most recent research across a broad subject area. The queen's biography and myth were traced, as well as the reception of this historical figure in art and on stage. Stress was laid upon socioeconomic and cultural phenomena resulting from the close contact between Venice and Cyprus during the Renaissance period, and also in focus was the literary production at Caterina's court 'in exile' in Venice and the neighbouring mainland. In occasione del quinto centenario della sua scomparsa si è tenuto in settembre 2010 un Convegno Internazionale di Studi, organizzato dalle due curatrici di questo volume. Autorevoli specialisti nei campi della storia, storia dell'arte, storia della letteratura, archeologia, musicologia e degli studi bizantini hanno presentato - in un'ottica interdisciplinare - le loro ricerche più recenti su un vasto ambito tematico. Questi atti ne raccolgono i risultati. Si ripercorre la biografia e il mito della regina Cornaro nonché la ricezione della figura storica nell'arte e sul palcoscenico. Vengono inoltre messi in risalto vari fenomeni socioeconomici e culturali nello stretto contatto tra Venezia e Cipro durante il periodo del Rinascimento. Infine, viene presa in considerazione la produzione letteraria alla sua corte 'in esilio' a Venezia e in Terraferma.

Avidyā Avidyā è una parola sanscrita, l’antica lingua sacra dell’India, che significa letteralmente ignoranza, conoscenza imperfetta. La parola viene formata a partire dalla radice vid, ‘conoscere’, ‘percepire’, a cui viene aggiunto il prefisso privativo a-. Ignoranza è tutto ciò che fa parte della grande illusione di un Io personale. Ignoranza è il velo che riveste di sé la creazione, la vita, il mondo fenomenico e la manifestazione. Ignoranza è la prigione in cui noi decidiamo, giorno dopo giorno, di auto-esiliarci; non siamo esseri liberi. La nostra mente, centrata sull’illusione di un “me” e di un “mio”, ci incatena al ciclo delle continue reincarnazioni, ci impedisce di vedere l’Infinito e l’Eterno da cui procede ogni cosa. Non esiste coscienza individuale; tutto è impersonalmente Sé. Marco Anselli (Milano, 1987), studioso di dottrine orientali e lingua cinese, comunicazione, linguistica. Da sempre amante della letteratura e della poesia, ricomincia a scrivere di recente (nel 2013) riprendendo un discorso stilistico e – soprattutto – tematico, che aveva già iniziato ad approfondire in alcuni versi giovanili. Nei suoi componimenti indaga il rapporto contraddittorio e problematico tra realtà e illusione, tra tempo e a-tempo, tra istantaneo ed infinito, ricorrendo spesso alle categorie gnoseologiche dell’induismo del Vedānta e del daoismo. Tra le sue principali influenze, si annoverano la Bhagavadgītā, i poeti italiani (in particolare Leopardi, Foscolo, Ungaretti, Saba, Quasimodo, Montale e d’Annunzio) e francesi (in special modo i decadentisti), H. P. Lovecraft, Laozi.
