Poetic Desperation is a breath of fresh air in the midst of a suffocating society. It is a desperate cry to seek and find Truth in the midst of overwhelming lies. It is a call to bring back the innocence of one's youth. It searches out Wisdom and Understanding. It will be a comfort to those who suffer heartache and loneliness and a joy to those who have found Truth and Love. It brings about beauty in the midst of ugliness. It asks all the hard questions and shares the enlightenment found to be true. Above all else, it seeks out a God who desperately wants to meet all our needs, fill all our voids, share in all our joys and pains, hear every detail of our life--good or bad--and be there every step of the way. I hope it helps you find Him in the long run.

Take a poetic journey with author Joe Nance, as he struggles to live life on life's terms. The journey begins with a descent into insanity that leads to the brink of suicide. At the last moment, God's intervention saves the author and brings him to a realization that there is hope in continuing to live. Anger, self-hatred, self-pity and regret are ever-present, but with God's help and interaction with other people, he begins the journey back to life. If "Murder by Suicide" can help just one other person realize that hope is not lost, that life can change, then the writing of the tale was worth all the pain, tears and agony.

This collection of poems is from a time when I was alone. Truly alone. A time of failure. And desperation. Disappointment and fatigue. I was too tired to fight anymore. Too hurt. Too lonely. Too busy trying to resuscitate that thirteen year old version of myself I'd lost years ago. Every poem is a chest compression. A breath blown into the lungs of a ghost. This is me, throwing a rope into the depths of depression, hoping to retrieve the me lost within it. I found him, beaten down, bruised, hanging by a thread. I found him in the desperation of darkness. If you're expecting an abstract collection of words. This isn't the poetry for you. If you're looking for short bursts of sentences, that pause, in places you, don't understand. This isn't the poetry for you. If you're looking to analyze metaphors that may or may not have been intended when the author wrote them. This is not the poetry for you. If you're looking for form and technical jargon and a hundred ways to say I love you. This is not the poetry for you. This is raw, unfiltered, heartless yet heartfelt emotion with rhyme patterns within rhyme patterns that spill from the pen of a poet who dreamed of being so much more. This is hope in its most hopeless form. This is my soul exposed while holding a mirror to yours. This is everything I am. Everything I was. This is everything I hate about me. And everything I love. To be honest, this is failure, both mine and yours, at its truest and its harshest. This is what they didn't want me to say because they didn't want to hear it. This was written, in the desperation of darkness.

Seminar paper from the year 2014 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 2,0, University of Duisburg-Essen (Fakultät Anglistik), course: American Literature, language: English, abstract: In the Modern period, the American lifestyle is growing and developing gradually. With the improvement of the railroad system, such as the use of steel rails instead of iron rails, everything in life is moving faster. Furthermore, America’s need for workers combined with cheaper train and steam ship tickets have caused a new wave of mass immigration. Although life in America seems appealing, these positive aspects are overshadowed by hard times. Especially after the two World Wars, which caused a lot of pain and death, the world is fragmented and the devastation and alienation of people, both outer an inner devastation, has started to take place. Furthermore, through industrialization and mass production, human beings are in a continuous hurry and there is restlessness. Due to the fact that people always seem to be in a rush, life is chaotic and fragmented. The alienation and desperation of the individual in the Modern era can be seen in Edward Hopper’s painting "Automat", which was published in 1927, and in the poem “In a Station of the Metro“ by Ezra Pound from 1916. Therefore, this term paper will illustrate the characteristics of the Modern Era, especially in terms of literature, by analyzing and comparing the painting and the poem.

Some Desperate Glory written by Max Egremont and has been published by Pan Macmillan this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-08 with Poetry categories.

While the First World War devastated Europe, it inspired profound poetry – words in which the atmosphere and landscape of battle are evoked perhaps more vividly than anywhere else. The poets – many of whom were killed – show not only the war’s tragedy but the hopes and disappointments of a generation of men. In Some Desperate Glory, historian and biographer Max Egremont gives us a transfiguring look at the life and work of this assemblage of poets. Wilfred Owen with his flaring genius; the intense, compassionate Siegfried Sassoon; the composer Ivor Gurney; Robert Graves who would later spurn his war poems; the nature-loving Edward Thomas; the glamorous Fabian Socialist Rupert Brooke; and the shell-shocked Robert Nichols all fought in the war, and their poetry is a bold act of creativity in the face of unprecedented destruction. Some Desperate Glory includes a chronological anthology of their poems, with linking commentary, telling the story of the war through their art. This unique volume unites the poetry and the history of the war, so often treated separately, granting readers the pride, strife, and sorrow of the individual soldier’s experience coupled with a panoramic view of the war’s toll on an entire nation.
