Carolyn V. Martin, BS MS State of Connecticut A writer by nature. I fell in love with writing at the age of seven. Whether that be with poetry or free writing always allowing my feelings to just flow. I'm inspired to write with a vision, seeing things for more than what they actually are. I like to take my audience on journeys of free flow and sultry landings. My style in poetry is unique and articulated by music. Music is rhythm. Poetry is rhythm. Therefore my writings have a certain beat. My God has given me a gift to share with all who are willing to listen. As a Poet and Writer, I've always shared the same feelings and valued quotes from: Maya Angelou! "If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded. If we lose love and self respect for each other, this is how we finally die." I, Carolyn Martin truly believe that you can let love live and let love reside. It involves acceptance, humility, and forgiveness. Bringing back morals, values, and principals. I refer to my poetry as words of wisdom because most poets are usually inspired by God, our Heavenly Father of Wisdom. Such selections of words could only be approved by him. When you are reading, read without judgment and prejudice. Many of my selections are diverse just as my memoir book will be and I am quite sure many will be able to relate. I offer many situations that allow the reader to journey into leading to a positive outcome.

In spite of her health troubles, she really tries very hard to live a normal life and do as the Lord would have her to. Sister Gaines shares her knowledge and wisdom to help others and to discuss her own personal aspects in life so that others can see and feel the blessings that God can bestow upon a person of obedience and following his will. Singing in her church choir and going to other churches or events is one of her favorite settings. Carolyn feels that expressions mean a lot into today's society. Being able to express her poetry emotionally, spiritually, and physically is certainly an asset to her work. Carolyn's hopes and dreams include being able to write and touch hearts as much as possible. It is her deepest hope that her work will help the saved as well as the unsaved to have a closer walk with Jesus while the blood is still running in their veins. Less of a cliche is to judge a poetry book by its titles - in C. Leigh Srygley's case, brittle letters come together to fuse as reified statements of intent, reflecting someone who understands that life is more than "just" for living. Delving into her work, we see exactly what makes her such a powerful and fascinating writer; statements like "simple smoke signals/erupt from sidewalks" bring Frank O'Hara and early 60s hard-bop jazz to mind, while Srygley's musing on that skinny kid from Minnesota - "Dylan's Harmonica", (which happens to be my favourite piece on this collection) captures the early dustbowl hunger of Zimmy, but equally and perhaps subconsciously, aligning with his mysterious dusk-walking 1997 persona. She writes about life's journey from her experiences, her love of nature is recalled from childhood adventures, and she is able to show sensitivity to the human spirit and her love of God throughout her poetry. The picture of Carolyn is by Photography West of Kelowna, BC. Carol was born and raised in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Growing up on a fruit farm, and having acres of land to hike and horseback ride over, Carol had lots of natural settings to draw on for her poetry. Carol started writing poetry as a young child and has continually written about her friendships, nature and her belief in God. Besides writing, Carol is an amateur artist and enjoys painting some of the natural beauty that surrounds her in Westbank, British Columbia.
