Der französische Philosoph Paul Ricœur hat sich schon in Zeiten, als in der Philosophie noch nicht von einer Renaissance der Religion die Rede war, intensiv mit dem Verhältnis von Vernunft und Glaube beschäftigt. Während seines Denkweges waren die religiösen Überzeugungen der Menschen für ihn wichtige Ausgangspunkte und Wegmarken philosophischer Reflexion. Zu allen Phasen seines Schaffens traten neben philosophischen Werken mit einer Fülle von religiösen Implikationen auch Beiträge, in denen er seine philosophischen Überlegungen als Ausgangspunkt für die Interpretation biblischer Texte gewählt hat. Gerade als Philosoph gibt Paul Ricœur auf diese Weise der Theologie Anstöße für ihr eigenes Tun. Sie beschränken sich keineswegs auf die systematisch-theologische Reflexion des Verhältnisses von Theologie und Philosophie, sondern betreffen so gut wie alle theologischen Disziplinen. Welche philosophischen Einsichten und religionsphilosophischen Überlegungen Ricœurs im Einzelnen sind für die Theologie besonders fruchtbar? Existentia hermeneutica is phronetic existence with the aim of cultivating practical wisdom in human life: It comes from life, influences life, and transforms life. Understanding what is happening in life requires reaching the hermeneutic truth, which is the truth of understanding. The experience of hermeneutic truth calls for personal commitment and existential response, and, thus, expresses the hermeneutic moral imperative. Referring to Heidegger’s phenomenological analytics of Dasein, Gadamer emphasizes that understanding is not only one of the human capabilities, but a way of Dasein’s being-in-the-world.

Bildsprachlichkeit wird dabei nicht nur auf formaler Ebene dargestellt, sondern durchgehend auch inhaltlich in Form einer ausgeprägten Polemik, die auf eine Absage und Kritik an herkömmliche bildsprachliche Verfahren wie Metaphorik oder Allegorik abzielt, verhandelt. In sämtlichen Werkphasen und Textgattungen ist die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Sehen und Erkennen, mit den Möglichkeiten bzw. Unmöglichkeiten einer adaequatio-Relation zwischen ‚Realität‘ und Sprache sowie mit dem Verhältnis von Perzeption und ästhetischem Ausdruckspotential das thematische Gravitationszentrum in Einsteins Werk. Mit dem Transvisuellen wird dieses zentrale Thema Einsteins mit einer prägnanten Begrifflichkeit benannt. "Transnationalism" has become a key term in debates in the social sciences and humanities, reflecting concern with today's unprecedented flows of commodities, fashions, ideas, and people across national borders. Forced and unforced mobility, intensified cross-border economic activity due to globalization, and the rise of trans- and supranational organizations are just some of the ways in which we now live both within, across, and beyond national borders. Literature has always been a means of border crossing and transgression-whether by tracing physical movement, reflecting processes of cultural transfer, traveling through space and time, or mapping imaginary realms. It is also becoming more and more a "moving medium" that creates a transnational space by circulating around the world, both reflecting on the reality of transnationalism and participating in it. This volume refines our understanding of transnationalism both as a contemporary reality and as a concept and an analytical tool. Eine fundamentale Aussage von Klaus Hemmerle ist "Keine Wahrheit ist zeitlicher als die religiöse". Eine solche Aussage muss für den Griechen ein Graus sein. Denn eine Wahrheit, die zeitlich ist, ist für ihn keine Wahrheit. Überraschenderweise führt Papst Franziskus in seinen bisherigen 4 Enzykliken ein ähnliches Prinzip ein: "Die Zeit ist mehr wert als der Raum". Dieses Verständnis von Zeitlichkeit führt Hemmerle zu der zentralen Frage: " Glauben - wie geht das?". Er fragt nicht zuerst "Was ist Glaube?" Diese Frage führt zu den bekannten Was-Fragen, die für den Glauben oft ungeklärt bleiben. Dagegen führt die Frage: "Glauben - wie geht das?" zu den Wie-Fragen und damit zu einem anderen Sprachspiel. Hier wird nicht zuerst nach einem Bestand gefragt, sondern nach einem Geschehen. In diesem Buch soll deshalb der christliche Glauben in der Sprache der Phänomenologie Hemmerles gelesen werden.

The art of the emblem is a pan-European phenomenon which developed in Western and Central Europe in the early modern period. It adopted meanings and motifs from Antiquity and the Middle Ages as part of a general humanistic impulse. Technological developments in printing that permitted the combination of letterpress with woodblock, and later copperplate, images, ensured that the emblem spread rapidly by way of printed collections. With time, emblematic ideas moved beyond Europe, conveying their insights and wisdom in the compact form of the book. These same books came to influence artists and designers working in the decoration of buildings, furniture, and household items, so that emblems entered personal life; they infiltrated festive culture, too. In such environments beyond the book, emblems were transported, adapted, and embedded in new functional contexts shaped by social, political, or religious conditions, but also by architectonical and regional art historical parameters. The results of these transformations are often of an intricate and complex meaning. The combination of word and image that constitutes the emblem still has resonance in contemporary art and architecture. The study of emblems allows us to look back at the collaborative endeavours of creative minds of earlier times from across Europe and beyond. At a time when that continent is under strain, and the world in general seeks to come to terms with globalization, emblems allow reflection on strongly shared cultural values and connections.
