A Season in Hell is an extended poem written and published by French writer Arthur Rimbaud. The book had a considerable influence on later artists and poets, for example the Surrealists. Henry Miller was important in introducing Rimbaud to America in the sixties. He once attempted an English translation of the book and wrote an extended essay on Rimbaud and A Season in Hell titled The Time of the Assassins. The poem is loosely divided into nine parts, some of which are much shorter than others. They differ markedly in tone and narrative comprehensibility, with some, such as "Bad Blood," 'being much more obviously influenced by Rimbaud's drug use than others, some argue. Academic critics have arrived at many varied and often entirely incompatible conclusions as to what meaning and philosophy may or may not be contained in the text, and will continue to do so.

It is often said that two things are unavoidable; Death and Taxes. Certainly the latter is a common thorn in adult life but as to the former it seems that for many people it is merely a hiccup in Life's eternal journey. A journey they wish, if being of good deed and character, to share at the eternity of Heaven's largesse, a reward for Faith and the obligations of Religion. Of course for those not so fortunate an altogether different experience was prepared for them; Hell. Its nightmare visions so terrifying conjured up by Dante and Milton. Here we have gathered together verse by such luminaries as William Blake, Gerald Manley Hopkins, John Milton, Ben Jonson, Rupert Brooke and of course many others to share their thoughts and vision.

"Inferno" tells the story "of those who have rejected spiritual values", of those who are lost and are unable to find the right way to salvation. It describes each sin and the corresponding punishment. It differentiates between Purgatory and Hell by presenting people begging for forgiveness and others willing to justify their sins. "Inferno" represents the Christian soul who gets to see what it really is to commit a sin and what is to be expected in the afterlife. "Inferno" is the first part of Dante Alighieri’s medieval poem "The Divine Comedy" which was written in the period 1308-1320. It depicts the nine circles of Hell and Dante’s journey through them. Dante Alighieri was an Italian poet, philosopher, language and political theorist, born in Florence in 1265. He is one of the best known poets of the Middle Ages and his masterpiece "The Divine Comedy" is considered to be a representative of the medieval world-view. "The Divine Comedy" and "The New life" were written in vernacular, i.e. the speech variety that was used in everyday life. This made the literature accessible to most people and this is mainly why Dante is called "The father of Italian language". Dante’s life was divided by poetry and politics and the relationships between secular and religious authority were topics which were often depicted in his literary works.

Excerpt from The Rebellion of Hell: A Poem Like the epic poets I have mingled throughout, the probable and improbable, in art. Homer in his Iliad mixes mortals and immortals, that is, men and women, with gods and goddesses; the first being the probable and the last the improbable. When Neptune rides through the sea to the shore for the purpose of inspiring the troops by means of a speech, and when Venus with wounded hand from the battlefield mounts weeping to heaven, we know that, while such things are improbable, they are necessary to carry on the main design of Homer. Virgil is a reflection of the Greek. The Catholic epics, Dante and Tasso, and the Protestant, Milton, have each used different forms of the improbable, all of which are unlike those of the Iliad. Tasso has his spells and enchantments, Dante his shades and angels, Milton his personal god and devil, and each a mixture of all. But modern Christianity requires another form of expression in heroic poetry aside from any of these. As is seen in The Rebellion, both Heaven and hell are considered as present conditions of mind, divided into the Spiritual and carnal, and fought accordingly. That much is strictly metaphysical, thoughts taking human shape and going about as men; and this, according to art, is the improbable. But there is something else. The vision of hell of Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri The Inferno tells the journey of Dante through Hell, guided by the ancient Roman poet Virgil. In the poem, Hell is depicted as nine concentric circles of torment located within the Earth; it is the "realm ... of those who have rejected spiritual values by yielding to bestial appetites or violence, or by perverting their human intellect to fraud or malice against their fellowmen". As an allegory, the Divine Comedy represents the journey of the soul toward God, with the Inferno describing the recognition and rejection of sin.

Love Is A Dog From Hell written by Charles Bukowski and has been published by Harper Collins this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-03-17 with Poetry categories.

A classic in the Bukowski poetry canon, Love Is a Dog from Hell is a raw, lyrical, exploration of the exigencies, heartbreaks, and limits of love. A book that captures the Dirty Old Man of American letters at his fiercest and most vulnerable, on a subject that hits home with all of us. Charles Bukowski was a man of intense emotions, someone an editor once called a “passionate madman.” Alternating between tough and gentle, sensitive and gritty, Bukowski lays bare the myriad facets of love—its selfishness and its narcissism, its randomness, its mystery and its misery, and, ultimately, its true joyfulness, endurance, and redemptive power. "there is a loneliness in this world so great that you can see it in the slow movement of the hands of a clock."
