A SENSUOUS EXPLORATION OF LOVE IN ALL ITS GLORY The Lament captures the full range of emotion that whirl around human relationships. Here are dozens of poems examining the profound joy of those deeply in love, the incredible longing of the separated partner, the intense loneliness of modern working life, and - above all - the indisputable necessity of connecting with people around us. Poet Ercell H. Hoffman casts a penetrating gaze on our everyday emotions, revealing our extraordinary capacity for feeling, empathy, and love. IN "Lost to the Moment," the speaker relishes the irreplaceable first blush of fledgling love that sweets through her body "like a cool summer breeze." "This Afternoon" explores the painful possibilities of a love that might have been - that 'I knew could not blossom." "Stay Heart Stay" is about the undying fire for another that refuses to be extinguished despite considerable hurdles. Meanwhile, other poems examine relationships in the contemporary workplace, revealing a deeply unsatisfying existence: "The Factory" looks at the peculiarly disconnected relationships among underappreciated factory workers, while "On the JOB" tackles the boredom of a career that's anything but busy. Chock full of penetrating insights into the hart, The Lames is about our most basic needs: finding and keeping love and obeying our inner truth.

Following the title poem, Merwin presents works by Dylan Thomas, Wallace Stevens, Edwin Muir, Sylvia Plath, William Carlos Williams, Robert Frost, Theodore Roethke, Louis MacNeice, T. S. Eliot, Randall Jarrell, John Berryman, W. H. Auden, Marianne Moore, Ezra Pound, David Jones, Robert Lowell, Elizabeth Bishop, James Wright, Howard Moss, Robert Graves, Howard Nemerov, William Stafford, and James Merrill. Photographs and brief biographies of the poets are also included. Lament for the Makers connects the work of one of our most gifted contemporary poets with the modern masters who have defined the twentieth–century poetic tradition.

Laments written by Jan Kochanowski and has been published by DigiCat this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-08-10 with Poetry categories.

The 'Laments' are a series of nineteen threnodies (elegies) by Jan Kochanowski. They are a highlight of Polish Renaissance literature, and one of Kochanowski's signature achievements. The poems express Kochanowski's boundless grief; and, standing in sharp contrast to his previous works, which had advocated such values as stoicism, can be seen as the poet's own critique of his earlier work. In a wider sense, they show a thinking man of the Renaissance at a moment of crisis when he is forced, through suffering and the stark confrontation of his ideals with reality, to re-evaluate his former humanistic philosophy of life.

Love Remember written by Malcolm Guite and has been published by Canterbury Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-11-30 with Religion categories.

The bestselling poet Malcolm Guite chooses forty poems from across the centuries that express the universal experience of loss and reflects on them in order to draw out the comfort, understanding and hope they offer. Some of the poems will be familiar, many will be new, but together they provide a sure companion for the journey across difficult terrain. Some of Malcolm’s own poetry is included, written out of his work as a priest with the dying and the bereaved and giving to the volume a powerful authenticity. The choice of forty poems is significant and reflects an ancient practice still observed in some European and Middle Eastern societies of taking extra-special care of a bereaved person in the forty days following a death – our word quarantine come from this. They explore the nature and the risk of love, the pain of letting go and look toward glimpses of resurrection.

This volume is born out of two years of academic presentations on laments in the Biblical Hebrew Poetry Section at the Society of Biblical Literature (2006-2007). The topics of these papers are gathered around the theme of "voice." The two parts to this volume: 1) provide fresh readings of familiar texts as they are read through the lens of lamentation, and 2) deepen our understanding of Israel and God as lamenter and lamentee. In the second section the focus on topics such as Israel's "unbelieving faith" (i.e., strong accusations against the God on whom they have complete reliance and trust), the unrighteous lamenter, and God's acceptance and rejection of the people's lament(s), deepens our understanding of Israel's culture and practice of lamentation. The final essay notes how the expression of despair is in tension with the poetic devices that contain it.

Hailed as one of the leading Israeli poets, Benarroch ́s poetry has been published in a dozen languages, including Urdu and Chinese. Julia Uceda considers that Benarroch's holds the memory of the world in his poetry, while Jose Luis Garcia Martin thinks that his poems are more than poetry, they are a document. A witness of his time, Benarroch started writing poetry when he was 15, in English, and has always written in his mother tongue Spanish. This is a new edition of "The Immigrant's Lament", and it includes Benarroch's most celebrated poem, which gives the title to this collection. In this book Mois Benarroch (b. 1959, Morocco) describes his immigration and the art of living between two worlds, and never being part. Mois Benarroch has published ten books of poetry in Hebrew, Spanish and English, and five novels. "Destino" in Spain publishes his last novel "On The Gates Of Tangier" (En las puertas de Tanger) in 2008.
