Poisson Structures written by Camille Laurent-Gengoux and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-27 with Mathematics categories.

Poisson structures appear in a large variety of contexts, ranging from string theory, classical/quantum mechanics and differential geometry to abstract algebra, algebraic geometry and representation theory. In each one of these contexts, it turns out that the Poisson structure is not a theoretical artifact, but a key element which, unsolicited, comes along with the problem that is investigated, and its delicate properties are decisive for the solution to the problem in nearly all cases. Poisson Structures is the first book that offers a comprehensive introduction to the theory, as well as an overview of the different aspects of Poisson structures. The first part covers solid foundations, the central part consists of a detailed exposition of the different known types of Poisson structures and of the (usually mathematical) contexts in which they appear, and the final part is devoted to the two main applications of Poisson structures (integrable systems and deformation quantization). The clear structure of the book makes it adequate for readers who come across Poisson structures in their research or for graduate students or advanced researchers who are interested in an introduction to the many facets and applications of Poisson structures.

Poisson Structures And Their Normal Forms written by Jean-Paul Dufour and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-01-17 with Mathematics categories.

The aim of this book is twofold. On the one hand, it gives a quick, self-contained introduction to Poisson geometry and related subjects. On the other hand, it presents a comprehensive treatment of the normal form problem in Poisson geometry. Even when it comes to classical results, the book gives new insights. It contains results obtained over the past 10 years which are not available in other books.

Mathematical Methods Of Classical Mechanics written by V.I. Arnol'd and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-09 with Mathematics categories.

In this text, the author constructs the mathematical apparatus of classical mechanics from the beginning, examining all the basic problems in dynamics, including the theory of oscillations, the theory of rigid body motion, and the Hamiltonian formalism. This modern approch, based on the theory of the geometry of manifolds, distinguishes iteself from the traditional approach of standard textbooks. Geometrical considerations are emphasized throughout and include phase spaces and flows, vector fields, and Lie groups. The work includes a detailed discussion of qualitative methods of the theory of dynamical systems and of asymptotic methods like perturbation techniques, averaging, and adiabatic invariance.

Geometry Mechanics And Dynamics written by Dong Eui Chang and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-04-16 with Mathematics categories.

This book illustrates the broad range of Jerry Marsden’s mathematical legacy in areas of geometry, mechanics, and dynamics, from very pure mathematics to very applied, but always with a geometric perspective. Each contribution develops its material from the viewpoint of geometric mechanics beginning at the very foundations, introducing readers to modern issues via illustrations in a wide range of topics. The twenty refereed papers contained in this volume are based on lectures and research performed during the month of July 2012 at the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, in a program in honor of Marsden's legacy. The unified treatment of the wide breadth of topics treated in this book will be of interest to both experts and novices in geometric mechanics. Experts will recognize applications of their own familiar concepts and methods in a wide variety of fields, some of which they may never have approached from a geometric viewpoint. Novices may choose topics that interest them among the various fields and learn about geometric approaches and perspectives toward those topics that will be new for them as well.

This a comprehensive modern account of the theory of Lie groupoids and Lie algebroids, and their importance in differential geometry, in particular their relations with Poisson geometry andgeneral connection theory. It covers much work done since the mid 1980s including the first treatment in book form of Poisson groupoids, Lie bialgebroids and double vector bundles. As such, this book will be of great interest to all those working in or wishing to learn the modern theory of Lie groupoids and Lie algebroids.

Approach your problems from the right end It isn't that they can't see the solution. and begin with the answers. Then one day, It is that they can't see the problem. perhaps you will find the final question. G. K. Chesterton. The Scandal of Father 'The Hermit Clad in Crane Feathers' Brown 'The point of a Pin'. in R. van Gulik's The Chinese Maze Murders. Growing specialization and diversification have brought a host of monographs and textbooks on increasingly specialized topics. However, the "tree" of knowledge of mathematics and related fields does not grow only by putting forth new branches. It also happens, quite often in fact, that branches which were thouglit to be completely disparate are suddenly seen to be related. Further, the kind and level of sophistication of mathematics applied in various sci ences has changed drastically in recent years: measure theory is used (non-trivially) in re gional and theoretical economics; algebraic geometry interacts with physics; the Minkowsky lemma, coding theory and the structure of water meet one another in packing and covering theory; quantum fields, crystal defects and mathematical programming profit from homo topy theory; Lie algebras are relevant to filtering; and prediction and electrical engineering can use Stein spaces.

Deformation Theory And Quantum Groups With Applications To Mathematical Physics written by Murray Gerstenhaber and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992 with Mathematics categories.

Quantum groups are not groups at all, but special kinds of Hopf algebras of which the most important are closely related to Lie groups and play a central role in the statistical and wave mechanics of Baxter and Yang. Those occurring physically can be studied as essentially algebraic and closely related to the deformation theory of algebras (commutative, Lie, Hopf, and so on). One of the oldest forms of algebraic quantization amounts to the study of deformations of a commutative algebra A (of classical observables) to a noncommutative algebra A*h (of operators) with the infinitesimal deformation given by a Poisson bracket on the original algebra A. This volume grew out of an AMS--IMS--SIAM Joint Summer Research Conference, held in June 1990 at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. The conference brought together leading researchers in the several areas mentioned and in areas such as ``q special functions'', which have their origins in the last century but whose relevance to modern physics has only recently been understood. Among the advances taking place during the conference was Majid's reconstruction theorem for Drinfel$'$d's quasi-Hopf algebras. Readers will appreciate this snapshot of some of the latest developments in the mathematics of quantum groups and deformation theory.
