Polisiloksana ialah elastomer tak organik yang mempunyai sifat termal yang amat tinggi dan kebolehan diregang. Ia dikenali bermula abad ke-20 manakala bidang elektronik bermula sejak tahun 1980 sebagai bahan penghadang haba. Kini, penggunaan polisiloksana menjangkaui banyak bidang elektronik seperti bahan substrat dalam sel fotovoltik, panel skrin, pemandu gelombang dan antena. Menariknya bahan ini, ia boleh diubah suai berdasarkan keperluan penggunaannya dengan menghasilkan sifat optoelektronik seperti indeks biasan, penyerapan cahaya elektromagnet, kekonduksian haba dan elektrik, dan tenaga jarak jalur. Teks syarahan ini membincangkan penggunaan polisiloksana dalam beberapa peranti elektronik hasil kajian yang dijalankan oleh penulis hingga kini. Bermula dengan usaha sintesis bahan, penyalut LED telah dibangunkan bagi mendapatkan nilai indeks biasan dan lutsinar yang optimum. Seterusnya, polisiloksana digunakan bagi fabrikasi corak menggunakan kaedah litografi lembut. Dengan mengambil kira sifat lutsinar bahan ini pada julat sinaran ultraungu, ia seterusnya digunakan bagi fabrikasi pemandu gelombang. Fabrikasi ini mampu memindahkan riak gelombang elektromagnet dalam litar bersepadu. Bahan ini juga telah diolah bagi penggunaan antara muka termal dalam membantu pengaliran haba daripada cip secara berkesan. Kaedah yang digunakan adalah dengan membentuk suatu bahan komposit; partikulat logam yang dicampurkan diolah agar selari dan bersentuhan antara satu sama lain bagi membentuk pengaliran haba. Sifat istimewa polisiloksana iaitu kebolehan diregang digunakan bagi menghasilkan antena teregang; riak yang terhasil boleh dikesan pada bidang jalur lebar. Hal ini menghasilkan dakwat pengalir arus. Kajian bahan polisiloksana dalam peranti elektronik diharapkan terus dijalankan bagi menghasilkan produk yang lebih baik dan berkesan.
